Huskies lose again in the NCAA tournament
I hate to say it, but this loss falls heavy on Lorenzo Romars shoulders. I can hear the naysayer’s right now, “but he was coach of the year,” “but he brings in great local talent”, “but he gets us to the NCAA tournament.” All good things, but at some point, you need to be able to get to the second level in the NCAA tournament which means the elite 8 and the final four. Time and time again, the UW offense and defense play calling looks like it’s drawn up in the sand. When was the last time you saw a back door cut, or a screen up top for a three point shooter, or a back cut for a lob alley oop dunk. In bound plays? Wow, I honestly can’t think of the last time I saw UW score on an out of bounds play vs. just throwing the ball into the backcourt. East coast teams are stronger than Pac 10 teams and Purdue wore us down, bottom line in the first half. How about getting your team ready with having the second team practice with in your face hand checking type defense which is exactly how East coast teams play. How about pressing in the second half? UW desperately needed a point guard for this team and I knew they would be one and done in the tournament this year with no one that averaged more than 3 assist a game. UW is a factory right now for producing great scores (Roy, Robinson) and they get drafted in the selfish NBA and flourish. Great college basketball teams play more team ball and have point guard that average at least 6 assist a game. Check history people, most of the time teams in the final four have a great point guard.
So, you have to ask yourself, do you settle for being a one and done team in the NCAA or do you take the next step? I think Romar is going to have to either change his coaching style, become more disciplined, or hire smarter assistance you know how to make in game changes to WIN. Otherwise, UW is looking a lot like Gonzaga or the Atlanta Braves….great teams in the regular season, but chokers in the big games. ALL Seattle teams are great at home (Seahawks for example) but cannot win big games on the road (UW this year for example Kansas and Florida). The worst part of this game was that it was essentially a home game in Portland.
UW fans, it’s time to stop saying “wait till next year.” This is college basketball people and you lose a top talent like Brockman, it’s tough the next year. I say Romar needs to rethink his coaching style or UW will just continue to be a glorified local all star team that doesn’t care about advancing.

We'rrrrre Back!
We're back like a Chris Berman call of a home run..."back, back, back....HOME RUN!"
After traveling around the world for 6 months, it's time to get down to business and talk SEATTLE SPORTS!
Lots going on since I left....yeah, the entire Seattle Sports World had a horrible year in 2008 with the Washington Huskies Men's Basketball team being the one lone bright spot (I know, technically it's 2009, but we need something to smile about right?)
Ah, but things are looking much brighter these days......
#1: Housh signs with Hawks. Big move, great to hear and much needed. I'm glad Keith Gilbertson is DONE as a Hawks coach....a fat man who never told his players to strech before games...hmmmm, wonder why Burleson and others went down so quickly last year? I'm still a HUGE fan of taking Crabtree with the #4 pick. It's been since Alexander in 2001 has the Hawks gone after a young talented dynamic offensive player. Let's not be THAT team that either trades this pick or bypasses on this guy. His numbers are incredible and it's not like he's playing for Eastern Washington or something. See Santanio Holmes for why drafting young WR's is a good idea. Moreover, Seattle has a talented, quick defense and does not need to waste this pick here on a DT. Everyone thinks DT are important, right? Look at SB winner Pittsburgh and you think again. How often do you hear of their DT's being mentioned? Not often, because their LB's, Safeties, and CB's are the real reason that D ticks....Seattle's D is set up similar to Pitts. Now that dumb ass John Marshall is gone, our Defense should excel.
#2: Griffey is back. Wow, is all I can. So what if he hits 20 HR's with a .230 batting average. He puts excitement in this team that needs it desperately. If Beltre can hit 35 bombs and if Bedard goes 17-7, we got a chance....
#3: Sounders are BACK. Pretty sweet to have MLS back in Seattle. Better than the Steve Zungal days with the Tacoma Stars, that's for sure.
#4: WA Men's hoops. WOW, again, is all I can say. Romar has done an amazing job recruiting top local talent, bottom line. Now, the real question is if he can get this team beyond the sweet 16. The real test for this team will come when we face another physical East Coast Team like Louisville that plays a harder brand of basketball. Sorry, but the Pac 10 is soft compared to the East Coast and Romar is going to have to adjust to that as UW advances in the tourney.

FC Sounders Soccer Schedule
We finally have all of the goods from the Seahawks/FC Sounders front office and we know you have all been waiting to find out when Becks is coming to town.
Seattle Sports Blog has obtained some top notch seasonc tickets for all of the FC Sounders games so we are excited to post some pics and commentary on the level of play againts other MLS teams in the league.
