Hawks draft picks
Hmmmm, interesting moves I felt on draft day. The guy that everyone seemed to think we were going to draft Keller was passed on by Seattle and instead used to pick up a DE/DL from USC. I like the fact that we are taking players from the west coast who won't complain as much about traveling up to Seattle for living in the city during their tenure. Seems a lot easier vs. taking people from the east coast and hoping they adjust. We definitely needed help with the run last year, hence the game in Green Bay when we got ran over. I still think a lot of our poor defense stems from the inability of John Marshall to call a good game. Up 14-0 on Green Bay people, and we proceeded to get our asses handed to us the rest of the game. I like the picks of the FB from West Virginia and the long snapper....definitely areas where we can use some help. I still think Seattle is a trade away from having that stud TE or another WR, but with Obamanu, Talyor, and others, we could, I say could, be ok for now at WR.
The Mariners? Are fricking struggling right now, absolutely struggling. Richie Sexson? Someone kidnap him, please. Kenji J? Why did we extend this guys contract I will never know. Vidro? Historically a great .300 hitter, but is struggling this year. You gotta wonder why Bavasi decides on bringing guys in here like Wilkerson and Sexson, who have historically hit in the .240-.250 range. Everyone by now should know that when you come to play in Seattle's spacious Safeco, you are just not going to hit for average as you did where ever you played before. Look at Cirillo, Beltre, Olivio, Aurilla, Sexson, etc, etc. The only exception seems to be Ibanez. So, the M's better start going after hitters like a Maglio Ordonez or start moving the fences in....which is something, if you recall, Griffey had a beef with when the stadium was first constructed. Detroit moved their fences in, why can't Seattle?

Hawks 2008 schedule, Sonics, and more
Seattle Seahawks Blog:
The Hawks released their 2008 schedule this year and for the most part, it's favorable. The real headache is having to travel to the east coast for FOUR games, which is a bit much. No love, once again.
Looks like another 10-6 to 11-5 Seahawks record with ole' Holmy at the helms. Guess what? Expect another first round home win followed by a loss on the road the next week.
Prove me wrong Holmgren, mix up the offense, draft a solid TE, and call a few trick plays from time to time and we have a shot at a 13-3 record and home field advantage.
Otherwise.....it's more of the same old Hawks
Seattle Sonics update:
Oh, Mr. Shultz, you think you can win back the town of Seattle by suing Clay Bennett? Think again...your over priced tasteless coffee chain is about to dry up in Seattle. You tore the hearts out of a lot of fans in Seattle, and for that, you will NEVER be favored again in this town. You'll be known as a Martyr in this town for the rest of your life. Better do like Boeing did and move your lame ass and your corporate executives to Chicago or somewhere other than Seattle.
GET THE HELL OUT OF SEATTLE WITH THE REST OF YOUR OKLAHOMA GANG Shultzy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mariners are in trouble and Kansas wins
Congrads to Kansas for the win last night, although I was sort of rooting for Calipari to finally get a championship. That was a great shot to see by Chalmers and one we'll see over and over and over again I'm sure. Memphis had an amazing season and I'm not on the same page with everyone that the free throw shooting is what killed them. If you look at the stats from the game, Memphis had a 5 man rotation, that's it. Im sorry, no matter how good your starting 5 is, you need some type of contribution from the bench. Well, we'll see if Calipari decides to stick around after that tough, tough loss.
For the Mariners? Things are looking bleak at this point in the season. Great starting pitching, but that's about it. Sexon is garbage and should be sent to Navascotia for all I care. He's a joke, he stikes out too much, and will NEVER, EVER hit over .250 again. Wilkerson? What the hell is this guys problem? A .059 batting average? Why not stick Morse in there? I'd take singles over strikeouts and grounders any day of the week. Seattle is seriously going to have to consider Barry Bonds, who could at least bring a threat to the team with his bat. Ibanez is doing well, but there is little other threat on this team.
The biggest problem right now is the bullpen though. Gotta get Putz back and gotta get O'Dumb-ass-O'Flarety out of the rotation.

Richie Sexson please move to Quebec
Seattle Mariners Blog:
Please, someone out there, kidnap Richie Sexson and take him far, far away from playing baseball in the major leagues for the Seattle Mariners. You really think this team is going to be able to make the post season with this guy batting 4th? Another stellar performance last night with 3 strikeouts (one with the bases loaded) and an error. Hey Richie Rich, great job in being a freak at 6-8 and getting into the majors and making zillions of dollars. Guess what? Your time is up! Get out while you can, get out while you can still show your face in the state you grew up in. You CANNOT HIT!!! You will NEVER hit over .250!!!!!!! I'd rather see Morse in there at 1st base, a guy that can at least hit .275!!!! I'd take a sacrafice fly with the bases loaded vs. a strikeout any day of the week. We in Seattle can assess good talent, and you are not good talent. Why do you think we boooooed Shaun Alexander so much last year? Because he can NO longer break a 25 yard plus run.
Prove us wrong oh Richie Rich, but your days are done. Go somewhere else, give this team a shot at competiting with the Angels.
