EA Sports Madden 2008 sucks
National Sports Blog:
Ok, ok, I thought I was done ranting and raving about how BAD EA SPORTS has come of late with their latest rendition of Madden...until I found out ANOTHER glitch in the game. I generally prefer to play the franchise mode and will play multiple seasons with these teams and build my own dynasty. I had created a franchise team with the Seahawks and finished the first season. Everything was fine and dandy until I tried to similuate the pre-season of the next year (after the draft, re-signing players etc....it takes some time to do it but it's also fun being a GM). So, I go to simulate, and the GAME FREEZES!!!!! From what I have read on multiple video game post by doing a search on Google for "Madden Franchise game freezes", there are hundreds of post on this topic. What this means to me is that EA Sports doesn't want you to keep playing the same Madden for multiple years and is essentially forcing consumers to buy the latest version. Can you say "Class action lawsuit?" Any lawyers out there looking for a good case? Try suing EA Sports over this game and the fact they have a monopoly on the NFL gaming rights so places like NFL 2K can NEVER again produce a football game. It sucks, bottom line, as SO DOES EA SPORTS....it ISN'T IN THE GAME FOR ME.

Nice win last night for UW hoops
I guess Venoy Overton is all that afterall. He played stellar d against Bayless. Bayless is good, but I think Overton had something to prove last night to a guy who has been hyped as the next Isiah Thomas. Brockman was as consistent as ever also last night, gobbling up every rebound possible. He would be missed tremendously next year if he indeed does leave. His free throw shooting still needs some work, however. Practice, Practice, Practice.....John.
Dentmon? Ok, I still can't stand the guy and going 0-10 in a game is absolutely horrible, but he did play good defense on Bayless as well. More importantly, he didn't have 8 turnovers as he's prone to do in big games at times. Sorry, though, after you go 0-6, QUIT SHOOTING and give the ball to Appleby or Joel Smith for Heavan's sake! Morris as well continues to shine, hitting clutch jumpers over and over again. Pondexter has also matured significantly over the last 4-7 games. He is damn good and I expect big things out of Quincy Pondexter over the next 2 years. He has got, got, got to work on his dribbling skills though and learn to create moves for himself. He can hit three's, he can dunk, he can rebound, but man, he can't dribble!

Yankee roid teams of late 1990's
Seattle Mariners Blog:
anyone else out there think that Seattle could have got past NYY in those late 90's games had not the entire Yankee team been on roids?
Check out the comments from Steinbrenner's son...admitting that the team was on roids, however, that "all other teams" had roided up guys as well. I smell a rat.....you tell me that guys like Olerud were on roids compared to Justice, Bernie Williams, and the rest of those Yankee thugs?
Fat boy Steinbrenner from lame New York

Madden NFL game rights
Madden NFL relationship extended:
Why, oh why, is no one making a big fuss about this? This is absolutely absurd that game makers like NFL2K can no longer produce video games with NFL names and players. This is a monopoly, wo why is no one arguing against it? This should be a clear cut lawsuit in my mind:

Washington pulls out a big win..now what?
Washington Huskies basketball blog:
Great win last night as wins against #5 teams in the nation don't come too often for this program? Could this have the same type of an effect that the 2004 team had when they had a few upsets midseason to propel them to the NCAA tournament? I doubt it as that team was more talented. It is good to see, however, that the comments made by Will Conroy lit a fire under this teams ass. It was good to see Pondexter getting to the rack aggressively and flushing a few dunks. Brockman always brings his intensity, however, you also saw intense moments out of Wallace and Mathew-B. What next? Why did this team flub 3 HOME games in a row in the Pac-10? In the end, that may be the part of the season that killed this team the most. Romar is now coming off 2 consecutive sub par seasons with teams in my mind that had enough talent. Is he a great coach? He stills seems lost calling effective defenses and in bound plays. The only way this team suceeds next year is if Mr. Brockman comes back for a final year. All indications say that is a good chance, however, he's averaging 20 points a game and 10 rebounds a game....the NBA scouts will lick their chops over those types of stats

Eric Bedard deal done...now what
The more I read about this deal, the more skeptical I become. The guy had a great 2007, but beyond that, not much in terms of a proven track record. Tommy John surgery in 2002? Also not a good sign for longevity, which is exactly what Baltimore is getting in Adam Jones. If he goes 17-2 and gets us to the World Series, great, awesome. But we'll need bigger offensive production out of tools like Richie Sexson to get there....and a BIG tool that guy is hitting .205. Just another intelligent move by Mr. Bavasi. Expect another frustrating year from Mariner land....expect Bavasi, Chuckie Armstrong, and Howard Lincoln GONE in 2009 or else....

UW football 2008 recruiting class
Washington Huskies Football blog:
Looks like UW has beefed up their recruiting class for 2008:
Seattle Times article on UW football recruiting
Time will tell if this team is truely better than a deplorable 2007 team. Locker is solid, but our new defensive coordinator has got to show some progress. We have a favorable schedule in 2008 and I could easily see us going 7-4 next year and a bid into a bowl game.

Madden 2008 SUCKS!!
Madden 2008 sucks. I am posting this on my blog that has 20K+ subscribers (Seattle Sports Blog.com) along with posting this on Amazon and other game review sites. Make some changes EA Sports since all you seem to do to enhance games year over year is ad more coorporate logos to your games.
Oh, I can’t wait until 2010 when the NFL opens up the rights again for real video game makers such as NFL 2K to come back into the swing of things in the NFL video game arena. I hadn’t bought a Madden game since 2006 and I’m kicking myself for selling it. The main reason for my gripe? If it’s not broke EA, don’t fix it. The game play is horrible on the new game and the difference between Pro and All-pro is a joke. You either have 30 TD’s in a season or 30 INT’s with average QB’s on All-pro. The biggest problem? The amount of ADVERTISING EA is allowing into games these days. Kickoff sponsored by Snickers? Halftime sponsored by Sprint? HOW LAME!!!!! Hey, EA, just because your stock is in the toilet doesn’t need to sell yourself out to your board members and keep pushing these lame advertisements into video games. Spend your money on your website or forums and QUIT allowing ads everywhere on video games. It’s lame and the general public is getting annoyed with it. How about allowing a user to TURN OFF ADVERTISING DURING THE GAME?????????

Eric Bedard deal
Seattle Mariners Blog:
I'm starting to get cold feet on this whole deal. I mean, why are we giving up one of our best relievers and TOP prospects for this guy? OK, he had a solid end to last year, but that's ONE year of good pitching. Why throw everything and the farm at this guy who's only had one good year? Moreover, he's only signed up to 2009, so if things go bad in Seattle, he could easily jump ship and we lose three solid players. Time will tell, but my gut is now telling me that this is not a good trade.
