Hawks win....barely
Seattle Sehawks Blog
This team continues to somehow find a way to win games that they could have easily lost. A first and goal with :55 seconds left is a credit to our defense, who stepped things up in the second half. This team still needs a great deal of work as we try and build momentum heading into the playoffs.
Comments:
Positives:
1. Hasselbeck: Nuff said, he is our MVP this year and carrying this team
2. Mooooo Morris: The guy adds an element that has been missing from this team ALL YEAR….a game breaker running back. I said this after week #2, Shaun Alexander will never have another 25+ yard run…he’s too old and too slow.
3. Defense: I still think Marshall gets too conservative with the lead, but we stepped it up when it counted most.
4. Special Teams: Josh Wilson, welcome aboard. That return helped keep us in the game, no doubt about it.
Still needs work
Seattle NEEDS to start coming out stronger on the road, no doubt about it. Pittsburgh, Arizona, and now St. Louis. We come out laying an egg in the first half. Can we start out running harder drills???? Can we get out for pre-game earlier? Something needs to change here.
Killer Instinct: Holmgren still gets too conservative with his play calling, especially in close games where we have the lead. With the ball on the St. Louis 38 after a long pass play with 2.30 left, he calls run play, run play, pass, missed FG. Take a few shots at the endzone there Mike….you HAVE the lead, remember.

Hawks pull out gritty win
Seattle Seahawks Blog
What a great game yesterday. Every win in the NFL is important, but moving to 6-4 vs. being 5-5 is a huge momentum booster for this team. Arizona isn't exactly throwing in the towel right now, so it's important for us to keep winning. Up next a newly re-energized St. Louis team that can be dangerous at home.
Game balls and thoughts from the game yesterday.
1. Defense: was solid throughout the day. Despite the long TD run, we held them in check for the most part and our safeties did exactly what we needed....don't get beat deep. Kearney Game ball with 3 sacks. Lofa was solid yesterday, but got ran over on that 5 yard TD run. The stuff on the fourth and 1 however was critical!
2. Hasselbeck & Holmgren: Once again, Matt is having an MVP like year and continues to show improvements with Holmgren's newly opened up offense. 2 TD's, 300+ yards passsing, no INT's....great game. I still think Holmgren gets a bit soft in his play calling with the lead. That's one of the separaters of a New England vs. Seattle....NE continues to for the throat all game where as Seattle will go into 3 straight running plays inside the redzone with a lead. It keeps teams around and if Chicago would have recovered that onside kick....who knows.
3. Mo Morris: Shaun, please continue to rest your tired hangnails so that Morris can continue to show how great of a RB he is. It goes to show that the problem wasn't the line, it was Shaun.
Keep up the fire Hawks and let's get to 7-4 next week vs. St. Louis. We have got to prove we can win on the road.

Keys to the game: Chicago
Seattle Seahawks Blog
This is a game that Seattle should be able to take and as long as we keep the mistakes to a minimum and don't come out flat like we did against New Orleans, we should win. I see the game coming out 27-13 Hawks.
Here's our keys to the game:
1. Counter Hester with a little Seneca: Hester is a dangerous threat on Chicago, but why can't Seattle counter with a little danger of their own? Ok, Seneca isn't as fast as Hester, but he can move in the open field. Get Seneca involved in the offense to just mix it up a bit
2. Watch the deep ball: Again, Chicago DOES have some speed with Hester and Berriman. Couple that with the fact that we haven't been beaten deep in a while and it's a recipe for disaster. Grant and Russell can't fall asleep back there
3. Shaun's not starting? Who gives a &$%@, sit him down if he's just going to collect paycheck after paycheck. Mo Mo Mo Morris is what I have to say about that. Morris has GOT to hang onto the ball though...he seems to fumble in key situations. BTW, check out the video on ESPN labeled "Fitzy"....it's hilarious: ESPN
4. Defensive pressure. Rexy's first start in a while, there's no reason we shouldn't sack this guy 10 times this week.

UW hoops blog: beating Utah
Washington Huskies Mens Basketball Blog:
What an up and down game last night, truely a fun one to watch if you are a UW hoops fans. That was the type of game that can give a young team some momentum going into New York. I'll tell you this, though, Texas A&M is a much stronger team than Utah and we'll have our hands full.
Here are some highlights from the game last night, good and bad:
Positive:
1. Brockman, nuff said. That guy WON that game for UW last night single handedly. I hope, hope, hope he stays one more year
2. Overton: my first opportunity to see that guy play and he is the real-deal Holyfield. He's soooo much faster than Dentmon and reads the court soooo much better than Dentmon. Once he starts to hit his shots, he'll be the full package (was 2-8 last night)
Things to work on:
1. My first problem with last nights game was WHERE WAS THE CROWD???? How embarrassing to have the game on national TV and only have 7,000 fans there. You think Duke playing Middle Tennessee state would not sell out? The student section looked lively, but come on people, GO TO THE GAME!
2. Defensively, I still question Romar's ability to read and react to hot players. Jonnie Brewer was lighting us up last night, period. Does Romar understand how to do call a box-in-one??? He finally brought in Holiday who seemed to control things for a while.
3. Dentmon: Yeah, I'm going to get some flack from people here, but the guy is still very unstable with the ball. He STILL committed 3 turnovers last night and judging by the replay of the game, should have had 5 or six accounted to him. Yes, he can score, yes, I love his penetration into the lane, but for heaven's sake, CUT DOWN ON THE TO's! Mark my words, if Romar doesn't play favorites, our starting line-up should be: Brockman, Pondexter, Overton, Smith, and Appleby.
4. In bounds plays: our baseline inbounds play are horrible under the basket. Every play, the guy out of bounds sends the ball back to half court, of which we had a few turnovers there as well. CUT, SCREEN, do something here Romar with your play calling. You can easily score on at least 1-2 of these a game under the basket.
5. Weights: It is just me, or is everyone on UW looking 'soft' these days (besides Brockman, but he's a natural brick of a body). Pondexter, and especially Dentmon, do not look like they EVER hit the weights. You look at a Kentucky or Texas A&M, they are beefy and strong. May be they are all taking roids, I don't know, but we need to beef up.
Overall, great win, let's keep it UP!!

NBA ugliest big men all time
National Sports Blog
NBA ugliest big men all time:
I found and article on Chuck Nevitt the other day and got me thinking back to some real ugly NBA big men that have played in the NBA.
What's your vote? My vote? Paul Mokeski...he looked like a guy that came out of a brewery factory in Wisconsin.

Hawks keys to the game tonight
Seattle Seahawks Blog
This should be a fairly easy victory tonight, but this is the NFL, and nothing comes easy. The last time I said we should have a "fairly easy game", we end up losing to an 0-4 New Orleans.
Keys to the game tonight:
1. Come out guns a blarring tonight!!! We came out flat against New Orleans and before you knew it, we were down 17-0. Morris, get him some touches early and let Matt lead the way.
2. Defensive pressure: Can John Marshall call some effective blitzes tonight? He seems to do better at home than on the road with our sack totals. A LOT of that has to do with the 12th man, so let those tool Niners HEAR YOU! Smith is a great QB given tons of time, so keep on him with well executed, well disguised blitzes Marshall.
3. Special Teams: This goes along with key #1, but it's critial to not make any mistakes on ST tonight. It's going to be ugly weather wise, so let's hope our long snapper has his stuff together.
Keep things steady and don't make turnovers tonight and we should come out on top 24-10.
We need to get some momentum back and this is a good game to do it

John Marshall suck and so does Alexander
Seattle Seahawk Blog:
Can Paul Allen please wake up and fire this idiot!!!! Can you not hold a fricking 21-9 lead on the road? NOOOOOO!!!!!! You can't, because you are an idiot!!! Retire, get your ass out of Seattle, quit being our fricking defensive coordinator. Your inept, over paid defense had 0 SACKS THIS GAME. YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO CALL A DEFENSE!!!! YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO BLITZ. You got a job handed to you with no experience. GO HOME, RETIRE. I HATE JOHN MARSHALL!!!
Shaun Alexander, you are DONE. QUIT, you are OLD and you suck. Thanks for the memories, but it is time to move on. Quit being such a soft winey church go-er....get OUT NOW. YOU ARE DONE!!!!
Holmgren: You're typical conversative play calling is A JOKE! Time for you to move on. How many fourth and one's that you call over left tackle are you going to lose for this team? ?????? Anyone remember that happening twice last year in the Chicago playoff loss? Time to retire ole' Mike...you turned the franchise around, but it's time your boring play calling move on.
Bottom line, this team still finshes 10-6 with our joke of a schedule and everyone thinks everything is hunkie dorie. We lose again in the playoffs. TIME FOR CHANGE

Ban Starbucks, tell Bennett to GO HOME!
Seattle Sonics Blog:
Can some rich, overpaid Seattleite please buy this team back?
Howard Shultz, thanks for screwing all this up by selling this team...I will NEVER go to another Starbucks again. I hope everyone else follows this viewpoint. Can you say, Seattle's Best Coffee?
Bennett, just because your fat a$$ is still bitter over the UW Oklahoma football game in the Orange Bowl, doesn't mean you can come into Seattle and screw everything up. GET OUT and go pick corn you tool.
Let's be honest people and find out exactly what is going on here. ANY NBA team is not technically losing money as Bennett claims. He's still making money, just not as much as the NBA owners are with the 3 level skybox arena's. So, we know that. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with key arena other than it does not have six gazillion luxury boxes.
GET OUT OF SEATTLE BENNETT!!! GO HOME TO YOUR LAME TOWN!!!

Keys to the game vs. Cleveland, Huskies, and more
Seattle Seahawks Blog:
This is going to be a fun game to watch this weekend, mark my words. Cleveland has an explosive offense right now and Cormiell is a savvy defensive head coach.
Here are Seattle Sports Blogs Keys to the game:
1. Contain Edwards, Winslow: They are two of the hottest WR/TE's in the league right now and can tear our smaller CB's apart with length and speed. We need a lot out of Russell and Grant this game to lay a helmet on them early and often.
2. Running game: Seattle cannot expect to win games with Alexander running for 2.5 yards a carry. Get the ball into the speedier Morris and Weavers hands.
3. This is going to be a high scoring game, so it's key that we have the ball and lead late in the game. Matt Hasselbeck has not been able to prove himself on the road in clutch situations, so we'll need to control the game late with a lead....hopefully.
4. Mix up the play calling: Holmgren and Marshall need to do a better job of play calling and clock management. Marshall continues to not figure out what the rest of the league is doing by crowding the LOS and Holmgren continues to struggle with running the 2 minute offense.
I see Seattle in a sqeaker, 27-24.
Washington Huskies Football Blog:
It has become VERY apparent that the non-conference schedule that Ty Willingham put together has done little to boost the UW confidence level this year. The Pac 10 is STACKED like never before, so it's key to recruit locally and get some studs from the surrounding areas like Don James used to do. Let's make our non-conference schedule a bit easier next year so we can have more confidence going into these games vs. USC and Oregon.
Seattle Supersonics Blog:
Good to see that we at least stayed competitive against Denver last night. Where was Swift and Ridnour last night? We are in trouble if Delonte West is our top offensive player. Watson needs to step up in a game like last night and did not perform. Durrant is the real deal, but it's going to take time for him to adjust.
