Letter to Major League Baseball

How refreshing to watch the games in Colorado where for once, every inch of outfield wall was NOT occupied by corporate advertising.

Baseball should learn from the NFL (in many ways) in that the field is sacred and advertising should not be allowed on the field....the wall is considered in the field of play...how terrible it is that you allow this to happen. You should seriously consider taking advertising down on all walls...it's an eye sore when watching the highlights at say Cincinnati where the entire wall is filled with ads.

And unless MLB ever established a salary cap, teams like Seattle, Pittsburgh, Kansas City will never have a chance to win a world series. Like a said, take some learnings from real pro sports like the NFL.

Seattle Mariners Blog:

Let's take a look at what could have been for the Seattle Mariners.....you think they make stupid decisions as a franchise? These moves have ALL come under the rule of either Howard Fat Ass Lincoln, Chuckie I'm also a dumbshit Armstrong, and Bill I've a shit for brains Bavasi.

1B: David Ortiz (yep, he was in our farm system)
SS: Arod
SS: Visquel (loooooved that move Chuckie!)
CF: Griffey
C: Jason Varitek (yup, we actually trade this guy for Heathcliff Slocumb)
C: Olivio (who had a good year in FL last year)
C: Yorvit Torrealba (starting C for the champs Colorado)
RF: Winn
3B: Carlos Guillen
SP: Randy Johnson
SP Derek Lowe (also in the deal for Slocumb)

There are probably several others, but this is a start....FIRE THESE 3 DUMBSHITS NOW NINTENDO!!!

Tailgating update...last blog on this one

Ok, I promise, this is my last post on this subject. To the conservative city council, to the lame Seattle City council people, to the idiots in Olympia such as Frank Chopp, to the tools over at Diamond parking, LET US TAILGAITE and have a few beers for heavan's sake!!!! The problem with Seattle is that everyone has a stick in their rear and if someone is seen urinating in the streets, heaveans for betsy close the WHOLE thing down! Anyone in Seattle ever get out and see the rest of the world? How about the Running of the Bulls in Spain? People are intoxicated at this event at 8:00AM and people DIE at this event every year....do you think that stops them? NO!!!! Or, how about Bay to Breakers in San Francisco? I can walk down the street drinking a beer and the cops don't care as long as you're cool with them. Seattle? No way, no how! They want everyone to stay in their houses and not go outside and have any fun. Any fan that braves the elements in the 9 months of Seattle gloom is a fan by my standards and should allowed to have a beer at a designated tailgate area. The US as a whole has such little culture and such few fun things to do....let us tailgate Seattle like the rest of the country! Have cops and Honeybuckets at the parking lots and everything will be cool....something Seattle just can't figure out to do right.

Letter to Diamond Parking

I encourage all to do the same:

Letter sent to a variety of Diamond Parking lot people:

To whom it may concern,

I'm writing this letter to inform you about your mishandling of tailgating at Seahawks Stadium parking lots. To ban alcohol at this event is only going to stir up strong emotions amongst Seahawks fans and you will continue to receive these types of letters from others. Seattle has the WORST tailgating in the country, whether it's pro sports or college, and the laws need to be changed. Diamond parking lots should be providing ample amounts of Honey Buckets and be paying for extra security around the area to enforce the few that ruin the event. You're charging $100 per large vehicle, so you can't tell me you're cutting into your margins all that much to pay for these miscellaneous cost. The TRUTH is that you are being influenced by Seattle legislature, and that's not good. Diamond Parking lots already occupy a strong amount of real estate in downtown Seattle and make the city an EYE SORE when it comes to aesthetics. Why don't you bulldoze a few of your cement parking lots and put a few parks in? Was it the intention of the CEO and the family of Diamond Parking lots to make millions of dollars at the expense of making downtown Seattle look like an industrial wasteland?

Hawks win, tailgating laws need to be re-written

Seattle Seahawks Blog

A win is a win and one that the Hawks really needed came on Sunday. Despite his injury, Hasselbeck held it together enough to move the offense effectively throughout the game. Our defense looked great, although, I still saw too many 4 man rushes. St. Louis is garbage people, remember that. Good to see we blew out a crappy team, but we still need to improve in many areas. Holmgren still needs to get Matt out of the pocket more, call a few screen passes, and call a few trick plays...our offense is horribly predictable. Our redzone offense could also use some help, and that comes from getting Alexander out of the game more. GREAT work Holmgren in listening to the boos at Seahawks Stadium.....we are tired of watching Shaun fall down. Get the ball in the hands of a hungrier Maurice Morris and Weaver....they at least run with a purpose. Alexander needs to accept the fact that his best days are behind him. Do what Fred Taylor did in Jax....you're not the same RB in your 30's and give some carries to the younger folk around you.

Tailgating in Seattle:

Seattle is the worst city in the NFL when it comes to actually enforcing tailgating. No other city gives a crap about it, so why does Seattle try and BAN it so much? If Seattle cops/legislature would just chill out like the rest of the country, there would be less problems. It's amazing what happens when you actually liberate crowds. Take San Francisco for example. You can tailgate all day at football games, you can drink in the streets at street fairs, and guess what? In 7 years of living down here from Seattle, I've never seen a fight at a tailgate or at a bar.

Paul Allen, please do your part and get these stupid laws re-written. You own half the city, so do something about it.

Colorado Rockies make the World Series

Seattle Mariners Blog

Now, there are only a few teams that have NEVER made it to the world series...teams that started in 1994 have won world series (2 of them, Florida). Teams that started the same year as the Mariners have won 2 world series (Toronto).

It's SHOULD not be that hard to get to the world series people. Good management, good ownership, good GM. ALL OF WHICH SEATTLE DOES NOT HAVE!!!

Get rid of Chuckie Armstrong, Howard Lincoln, and Bill Bavasi NOW or you will continue to be the worst franchise in baseball.

Wake up Nintento, smell the Wii revenue numbers, and get rid of your front office clowns!!!

Time for change in Hawkville

What an absolute pathetic game tonight against an 0-4 team. John Marshall need to be placed back in charge of the LB's and promote Mora as the defensive cordinator. It's time for the Seattle front office to stop being nice, and start building a championship team. John Marshall, who was under Ray Rhodes (whose defense I could not stand either), was promoted due to Rhodes health. Excuse me, but if you spend $60M on a new defense Mr. Allen, why do you have a 1968 Oldsmobile running your defense? His play calling fools nobody: I counted 10 consecutive plays tonight in which we ran 4 defensive lineman....Brees had ALL day back there. Bottom line, he CANNOT disguise blitzes, which good NFL teams are doing these days. Rhodes defense may have been good in 1993, but it is outdated, and so is Marshall. Get him OUT OF THERE!!!!

Shaun, thanks for the 7 previous years, you were great. Hey, Seahawks, guess what? NFL running backs fizzle out around 30....everybody and their mom knows that. Shaun, time for you to do the Fred Taylor and share your carries with Maurice Morris. Time for Seattle to make a Clinton Portis type trade in the offseason and pick up a good 2-3 year running back. Shaun is done, done, done. Great times Alexander, but this is a business, your time is done.

Hasselbeck? I think he actually played pretty well tonight. His INT was a joke, but he also got sacked 5 times and was under heavy pressure on that throw as well. Holmgren's play calling is waaaaay too predictable as well. Yes, we didn't have Deon tonight, but some of his play calling was questionable. Why they heck were we NOT in a hurry up offense in the beginning of the fourth quarter? It's like we gave up!!!! How about Hasselbeck's audible to a draw on fourth and 3? Really dumb. I'm starting to think the game is passing Holmgren by as we speak....or, it's just the fact that Shaun is not running hard, therefore, Holmgren has to rely on pass, pass, pass. Hey Mike, FYI, not a good decision to rid of our long snapper from the previous week, eh? The guy did nothing wrong in the Pittsburgh game, why change? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Bottom line, we are in a bad division, so there is time. However, Marshall needs to go, NOW. The one bright spot tonight? Weaver is a great replacement for Strong. Love Mack, but his time had come.

Seattle Seahawks Blog

Seattle Seahawks Blog

Here are the keys to the game this week. Even though we are missing Mack Strong and Deon, we should still take New Orleans at home. Looks like it might be a bit colder and wet on Sunday, so let's lace em' up and kick the Saints butts at home.

1. The H Factor: Hasselbeck & Holmgren: Even though Matt is missing Deon, Burleson, Engram, and Obu are good enough to pick up the slack. Holmgren needs to call some screen passes and roll outs (or even shotgun!) to get Matt out of his happy feet pocket passing.

2. Mo & Shaun: Have got to hit the holes harder this week. We NEED a running game to even have a chance this week and it sounds like Mo is going to get more carries this week

3. Defense, Defense, Defense: New Orleans still has Bush and Brees, so don't expect them to just roll over. This is going to be a close game I feel for 3 quarters with Seattle pulling ahead in the fourth. Marshall needs to keep calling good coverages and know WHEN to blitz....something that he has not done a good job of this year.

4. Some production out of the TE? I'm leaning towards starting Heller over Pollard real soon....Pollard isn't even close to putting up Stevens type numbers...yes, yes, we all hated him, but the guy was an actual threat at TE when he was catching balls.

5. Weaver for Mack: No one will ever replace Mack Strong, bottom line. However, if Weaver can block and catch a few balls out of the backfield, he'll do just fine. It's going to take him a few games to fully learn the offense, so expect a few mistakes here and there. As much as I love Strong, a younger and healthier Weaver could be the winning factor.

Mack, thanks for all 15 years of dedication to the Hawks...hopefully we can win the BIG ONE in your final year with us

Seattle Seahawk Blog

Seattle Seahawks Blog

We got our asses handed to us yesterday, no doubt about it. Maybe this team needed a wake up call, but the glaringly obvious to us Seattle fans rang true again yesterday:

1. Shaun Alexander is not running hard: He is trying to save himself to run for the next several years....not going to happen Shaun, you've got 1 or 2 years left on those knees. Better start running harder if you think you're going to lead Seattle to the Superbowl.

2. Marshall and Holmgren need a wake up call: I still think Mora would do a better job of leading this team defensively. Remember folks, Marshall was promoted from the LB coach since Ray was having medical problems. At least Mora has head coaching level experience. Holmgren needs to get back to the basics of the West Coast offense: Screen passes and stronger use of the Tight End. If Pollard can't answer the call, start Heller

3. Hasselbeck has got to prove himself on the road in big games: He can look like an all-star against a soft SF Niner team, but put him against a tough D like New England or Pittsburgh and he looks confused and stressed out. Start reading some book Matt on how to handle pressure situations....like Jordan's books.

Up next? A team we should easily handle at home, New Orleans. I see no reason we shouldn't be back on track at 4-2.

Keys to the game vs. Pittsburgh

Seattle Seahawks Blog

Here are the keys to the game this week. I still think Seattle is a more balanced team both offensively and defensively vs. Pittsburgh. I see Seattle taking this game, 24-17.

Keys to the game:

1. Fight fire, with fire. Pittsburgh runs one of the smartest 3-4 defenses in the league. How? They do an excellent job of disguising blitzes, crowding the line and let Palo run wild back there. You never know where he's coming from. Marshall did a better job of this last week vs. SF....let's keep it up.

2. Ben Rothlesburger. is an idiot, make him make mistakes. Big Ben is effective when he can sit in the gun all day. If we can get consistent pressure on him, he'll make mistakes.

3. Consistency from Hasselbeck and Alexander. Limit the turnovers from both, and we can win this game. Hass is going to be under pressure a lot this game, so screens and draws should be effective if called on the right downs.

4. Don't let emotion get the best of you. Pittsburgh has a rowdy crowd, similar to Seattle's. Refs will be on their side, so Seattle needs to stay within their heads and not let the fans influence their game play.

5. Revenge: mark my words, Seattle might not be claiming this game as revenge, but I believe deep down there is an element of revenge on Seattle's minds. Go for the throat and prove to everyone that we were robbed in that game. 4-1 looks a heck of a lot better than 3-2.

Hawks dominate, but still need work

Seattle Seahawks Blog

The Good:

1. The D looked great yesterday, but I think we can all agree, that game did an about face when Smith was taken out. The final score would have been much closer if he played, bottom line.

2. Hasselbeck: Was on all day yesterday minus the one pick. His TD pass to Engram was one of the best throws I have seen in a long time.

3. Holmgren mixing it up! GREAT to see the use of Seneca in there yesterday...it's a wrinkle, a twist, something different. GOOD TO SEE...

4. Neon Branch: The guy is a fricking stud, no doubt about it. I'd trade 4 first round picks for that guy

The Bad:

1. Shaun still running soft:get Morris more involved to get that speed element back in our line-up....will Alexander ever be able to break a 20 yard run again?

2. Seattle still needed to put the dagger in the game yesterday, but settled for FG's. Going 5-17 on third downs and missing on plenty of 3rd and one's didn't help matters. Why doesn't Holgrem line up in the I-form and run behind Weaver or Strong for an almost sure fire first down? The single back set does nothing for us.

3. Special Teams: What beat Cincy last week hurt us this week: awareness around the onside kick (Nolan has done 8 of these in 2 years....be aware!) and the blocked punt was not good. Not sure if it's the long snapper or what.

The real test is next week in Pittsburgh.....
