Seattle Mariners Blog:
Please forgive me, for I have sinned...it has been a loooong time since my last Seattle Sports Blog entry. I had thrown in the towel on the Sonics staying around and the Mariners were looking as sub .500 as ever. But wait! The Sonics land the #2 spot in the NBA Draft and a savior like Kevin Durrant might be heading to the great northwest.....praise the basketball Gods!
Then, we have the Mariners. How in the world is this team doing so well with a sub-par starting pitching staff. Answer: "The Putz and staff." Seattle has one of the top bullpens in the majors right now and is doing an excellent job of keeping runners off base. Richie Sexson, whom we have torn appart here at Seatte Sports Blog, is actually playing like a major league player: 13 HR's, an average that is floating around .215 now...he's on the mend! No one else really stands out on this team, which is very interesting from an offensive perspective. Except for Ichiro, all of theBentencourt's, Ibanez's, and Lopez's of the world have just been clutch when they need to be. Will they be able to stay this hot? They STILL need some SP, but as of now, being 5 games behind red-hot Anahiem is a good sign as we approach July.
