Seattle Mariners Bored???
Seattle Mariners Blog
According to one Seattle Times reporter, the Seattle Mariners are battling boredom:
The Mariners were just about as bad as a major league team could be last year and they are taking about boredom?!!?!?!?!?! These million dollar atheletes need a fire lit under their asses to WIN, and if anyone appears to be bored at Spring Training, then get a new job. I know if I was paid $4M a year I'd show up at spring training ready to bust my butt given the fact that my team finished 78-84 and in LAST place

Good article on state of NBA
Great article on how reducing the season would help this league...the NBA SUCKS right now, no doubt about it, and these types of changes could definitely help

Huskies 2007 Hoops Done and Done
Seattle Sports Blog
What a deplorable showing by the UW Men's basketball team last night, essentially wrapping up a dismal year. Oh, weren't we fooled by those lofty expecations of Final Four, Pac 10 Tournament Champs, etc, etc, etc. They were listless last night, basically doing nothing but going through the motions. The Seattle Sports Blog team all looked at eachother with about 5 minutes remaining in that game and all came to the same conclusion: NIT here we come.
Biggest question marks for this team:
-Is Romar really a good coach? His decisions to play ZONE against AZ pretty much cost us that game and was the start of the downward spiral. Other things such as player rotations were questionable (like leaving Brockman and Hawes out of the game until about 3 min's left against the game in Cal....and they were not in foul trouble
-Justin Dentmon is done, done, and done. We're not sure if he's having off court issues or what, but he is absolutely horrible this year. His assist to turnover ratio is one of the worst we have seen and his shot selection is not intellegent. Bottom line, we'd prefer Oliver leading this team next year
-Appleby: He's a SG, bottom line. Run some frickin' plays for this guy and get him open. The majority of his shots are either off the dribble (which he, like Dentmon, is not stellar).
-Hawes/Brockman/Pondexter: As the Clash would sign, "Shoud I stay or should I go now?" We would love to keep all 3 and believe that none of them are ready for the next level. Well, Hawes might be, but we hope that he has a little UW pride in him and he decides to stick it out one more year.
Bottom line, this will be an interesting off season for this young team. Romar HAS to get this thing turned around...quickly

Sonics blog 2007
The SuperSonics have been picking things up of late, but we wonder, is this a good idea? Wouldn't it be great if we could have a stronger contention for the like of an Oden, Durrant, or even, a Hawes if he decides to go? We'd much prefer to get a top 5 draft pick vs. getting another Sene, who hasn't done shit this year, bottom line. Other than Ridnour and Collison, our last 3 draft picks haven't done much. Swift has shown signs, but his injury killed us this year and who knows if he will be able to come back. Sene will at best be a back-up center along with Petro.
Starting line-up for 2008? PG Ridnour, SG Allen, SF R. Lewis PF Collison or Wilcox and drum roll please....Greg Oden?
We can pray, right?

Mariners 2007 Blog
Seattle Mariners Blog
Anyone at all excited about this team this year? We are not, but it kills time until the Hawks start summer camps......ok, so, we DO love the Mariners here at Seattle Sports Blog, we're just not that optimistic about the moves that Bozo Basavi has been making.
The only way this team wins is if Felix wins 20 and our 3-4 "also rans" have amazing seasons.
More to come......

Justin Dentmon and Romar
Washington Huskies Basketball Blog
Justin Dentmon is not a point guard, nor is he a college level point guard. He has terrible dribbling skills, shoots too much (2-12 last night?), and even in good games this years turns the ball over too much. Let's hope that Oliver or even Pondexter take this role over last year. At best, Dentmon is a back up guard, bottom line
Romar? You can blame at least 3-4 games for him not using zone or man at the right time. BTW, when was the last time you saw a full court press from UW?

UW men face challenge with WSU
Washington Huskies Basketball Blog
Big game tonight in Hec-Ed....we're there, that's for sure.
A whole new ballgame this time around with Hawes at full strength. Our recommendation for UW is to run, run, and continue to run since this is not WSU's style. If they can get WSU flustered and get some turnovers generated, they can win. Can UW press? Remains to be seen, but something they should consider to keep the tempo up for this game.
We want to see a 70-63 victory for UW.....this will give us great momentum going into the BIG game this weekend vs. Pittsburgh, the number 5 team in the country.

UW men beat Stanford
Washington Huskies Basketball Blog
UW pulls out a big win; NCAA's looking more likely.
UW is finally playing more like a team and the FULL return of Spencer Hawes has been helping tremendously. No longer does UW seem to be fighting with each other for roles and responsibilities, rather, they are playing as a team. Not only has Hawes been playing well, but Brockman has also stepped his play and more importantly, his leadership. He is our rebounding GOD right now and is creating a number of match-up problems for the opposition. This in turn leads to more open looks for Hawes.
The remainder of the team is playing well as role players. Dentmon, Appleby, Oliver, Pondexter, and Nelson are all fairly interchangeable right now with Wallace and Gasser filling in when Hawes and Brockman need a rest. We also need to give more credit to Romar for turning this team around. If UW can finish 3-3 or 4-2, they could sneak into the NCAA tournament as a #9-#11 seed. Our record is about as ugly as a record could be.....15-1 at home vs. 1-7 road record....ugly! This does not bode well for our NCAA chances, however, a nice road win at Oregon would help.
Bottom line, keep the momentum strong and head into the Pac 10 tournament on a high note.

Well UW, it's time to WIN
It's come to a critical juncture in the UW Men's basketball season.....either go 6-2 in the remainder of the season or miss the NCAA tournament. ESPN last night listed UW as one of the biggest disappointments of 2007....we have to agree. Justin Dentmon is NOT the answer at point guard. His turnovers and lack of ball handling skills are what is hurting this team right now. Has he ever had more than 4 assist in a game? You need more from your point guard, bottom line.
