UW Dawgs, Hawks, and more

What's everyone's opinion on UW hoops so far? Pondexter and Hawes seem legit, but where is the consistent guard play? This team is young and I think it's about time they get challenged instead of playing the Idaho's of the world. Gonzaga and LSU await....we ready for this? Gonzaga will be a tough one in the Kennel with their crazy fans, but can they stop us? You can bet your bottom dollar that we'll be watching this game intently.

Hawks? They have a tough, tough game coming up in Denver. The Seattle Seahawks have never played well in Denver, let's be honest. Tatum Bell is back and they are starting their QB of the future in Jay Cutler, who we think highly of. We still think there is a future out there for David Greene, but will he ever get the chance to play? Seneca seems like our next QB, but we like Greene more to be honest with you.....he's a taller, more traditional QB....like a Cutler, or a Tom Brady. Time will tell....let's hope that he doesn't leave this team and then turn into a Brett Farve!

Hawks with a big win

Seattle Seahawks Blog:

Great, great win for Seattle last night which puts them 2 games up on SF and the clear favorite to win the division. San Francisco still has games @ New Orleans and @ Denver, so I would consider the division wrapped up at this point.

Positives:

Shaun and Matt both had big games last night, but our MVP's go to the offensive line and Hackett and D-Jax. The O-line did a great job of both opening holes for Shaun and protecting Matt. After all the talk about the line, they proved their worth last night. Hackett has been the MOST consistant WR we have had this year, rarely dropping a ball that we can remember. D-Jax? All that guy does is continue to score TD after TD week after week. He is OUR MVP for Seattle this year..

Negatives:

You guessed it, the defense again. Lack of consistant pass rush and more missed tackles all game. We did see some improvements from some blitz packages, including that crucial 3rd and 6 from the 10 yard line of Seattle. We sent Herndon in on a blitz, it confused and rushed Farve, and he threw a bad pass. Hey, Marshall, wake up, that's exactly the type of blitz calling that we need to be doing more of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall, a solid win that this team needed. Denver next week. Hey Marshall, they are starting A ROOKIE QB.....guess what needs to happen? CALL MORE BLITZES on third and long and we win with another consistant game from Shaun and Matt!

UW Hoop blog

UW hoop blog

Well, UW so far is 4-0 against less than stellar competition. This team has unbelievable potential, however. They are a well balanced team with size, speed, outside shooting, and role players. What is going to hurt this team more than anything this year is their lack of experience.

Center, PF, and SF
So far out of the gates, Pondexter and Hawes have lived up to their hype. Having a 7-0 makes the whole team different, including allowing Brockman to be more versatile. Pondexter can shoot, rebound, and run the floor...and he's a freshman people. If UW can keep him and Hawes together for next year, look out. Wait until we get Joel Smith back as well here at SF. Nelson also looks like he can pass, shoot, and be a durable SF

Shoot Gaurd and Point Gaurd

Appleby and Dentmon have shown no slowing down in 2006, however, their turnovers have got to be reduced. The biggest problem with these two guys is they can both shoot the lights out, but their dribbling skills are not that hot. Oliver looks like he might be a solid gaurd for the future, but if we want to go far in the tournament, it will be on the shoulders of our big men and effective gaurd play out of Dentmon and Appleby. Not sure how much of a factor Burmeister will be this year, but if the 2 starters get in foul trouble, where do we go?

There are a lot of questions still remaining about this team, but the potential is incredible. We are really looking forward to seeing them against some real competition soon.

Seattle Seahawks suck right now

Seattle Seahawks Blog

Is it Marshall???? Or, do we just have the worst LB's in the frickin' NFL? Our defense is a JOKE!

1. Get rid of Marshall or start someone else at MLB
2. Bench Stevens NOW...he is a tool and does not know how to play
3. Get Seneca out of the line-up....that's what you get for starting a player from Iowa State.....how many Iowa State QB's do you think have won games in the NFL? Try Seneca....and he sucks

Better hope for some changes soon Seattle or it's lights out this year.....even if we win the division, does anyone think we have a chance against Chicago???? Our team is a joke right now, bottom line.

Where the hell is the offensive line? There were NO holes for Alexander all day. That fourth and one call? Stupid call Holmgren, stupid call!!!!! Know what he was thinking? Oh, we have Walter Jones and Pork Chop...they can clear the path....dumb, dumb, dumb call

Week #11 NFL picks

Seattle Seahawks Blog

We took the Seattle Sports Blog team to Hawaii this week for a group seminar, so we have been out of the loop on updating the blog.....WE ARE NOW BACK AND RE-ENERGIZED! BTW, we are hiring in Seattle for a few jobs: editorial writer, copywriter, and advertising executive. Please submit your resume if you are interested.

Hawks have a tough game this week, but we feel they can pull it off with Shaun back in the swing of things. Moreover, word on the street is that Hasselback could see some action this weekend as well. San Francisco is not the same team that Seattle has beat 7 games in row (if you recall, we almost lost to them last year!), but we see the Hawks being able to pull this one off.

Atlanta at Baltimore
Anyone else surprised with Baltimore being 7-2 this year? How about that crazy comeback last week vs. Tenn? Vick? Anyone seen Michael Vick lately? He's in a major, major slump. Baltimore 27-10
Buffalo at Houston
Battle of 2 up and coming teams. We really like what Kubiak is doing for Houston and we think they could be a team to recon with in 2007-2008. We like them here against Buffalo: Houston 23-17
Chicago at N.Y. Jets
Oh those Jets......one week they look great, the next likes the rats in the Bronx. Grossman seems to have his act together again, so we're confident Chicago will take this one. Chi 38-21
Cincinnati at New Orleans
Not sure if Cincy can comeback from that deplorable show against San Diego last week....ugh. How is New Orleans playing so well? Well balanced attack with strong rookie support from Bush and Colsten. We like NO here, 17-14
Minnesota at Miami
Minn has don't didly since that huge win over Seattle. Brad Johnson is starting to show his age, course he has 0% support from a terrible WR core. Miami is playing better of late and we see them pulling this one off......23-21
New England at Green Bay
NE has hit a few bumps in the road and GB has been playing better of late. GB in an upset? Think again....NE here 24-13
Oakland at Kansas City
Ah, battle of the Hawks old division. Doesn't everyone in this division hate the Raiders? KC has been playing better of late and we see this trend continuing. Oakland needs a new team....time to move back to L.A? KC here, 34-7
Pittsburgh at Cleveland
Boy, another battle of strange teams here. Both have been playing better of late and Pitt came to play last week with a win over NO. We like them against their hated rivals the Browns as well....13-10
St. Louis at Carolina
We believe the Rams are done for this year after 2 tough losses to Seattle. Carolina might be able to still pull together a solid season and make the playoffs.....Carolina 35-17
Tennessee at Philadelphia
Philly is on fire, Tenn blew a game they were up 26-7. Philly here at home, 28-13
Washington at Tampa Bay
We feel bad for Mr. Brunnell who was coming off such a solid season last year. Washington just doesn't have enough in the tank to make a playoff push, but neither does TB. We'll give TB the nod since they are at home, 14-13
Detroit at Arizona
Battle of the Uglies this week in the NFL...come on Jonny Kitna, pull one out for ole' CWU!!!! Detroit 9-6
Seattle at San Francisco
See notes above...we like Seattle 24-20.....can Shaun get 100 yards this year?!?!?!?!!
Indianapolis at Dallas
GAME OF THE WEEK? or, maybe SD @ Denver. If Indy is going to hit a snag in their pursuit of 16-0, this might be the game. However, I just don't see Dallas being able to beat them. Indy here in a close one, 35-30
San Diego at Denver
Ok, this is the GAME OF THE WEEK. Denver is tough, tough at home, but doesn't Jake seem to make mistake after mistake in big games? San Diego here purely on momentum.....42-28

N.Y. Giants at Jacksonville

Can anyone waste more talent than the NYG's? Well, I suppose with Barber struggling, there offense looks a bit different. Still, Manning, Shockey, and Burress should be able to pull off more wins, don't you think? We have them here over Jax, 23-21

NFL weekly picks

National Sports Blog:

Here are our predictions for week #10. There are some toughies this week as we draw closer to the playoffs. Overall, Seattle Sports Blog continues to dominate in weekly picks with a 79-42 record. Beat that, VEGAS!!!

Baltimore at Tennessee
Tenn has been playing better of late, but with Baltimore at 6-2 and beating everyone up defensively, we see them taking this one. Baltimore 24-10
Buffalo at Indianapolis
This game may actually be closer than one might think. As we all know, going 16-0 in the NFL is nearly impossible and your team is bound to slip at some point. However, we still see Indy pulling this one off, 28-13
Cleveland at Atlanta
We'd love to see Atlanta lay an egg here so Seattle could have home field over them, but Cleveland is playing horrible right now. Atlanta here easily, 34-7
Green Bay at Minnesota
Ah, battle of the Norris division as they say. It's too bad Minn plays in a dome...these games are meant to be played outside. With Global Warming these days, Minn could be like Miami in 20 years, so why not build an outdoor stadium? Apparently there is a retractable roof one going up in a few years, which would be cool. OK, back to the game...we like Farve pulling off an upset here, 34-31.
Houston at Jacksonville
Houston is scrappy, but also crappy. Jax here, 24-20. Garland is a stud of a QB
Kansas City at Miami
This is a tough one to predict this week. Both of these teams have been playing well of late and are coming off big road wins. We like KC's offense just a bit more and see them pulling this off.....21-20
N.Y. Jets at New England
New England got beat up pretty bad by Indy last week, so we like them to beat up the J-E-T-S this week, 28-17
San Diego at Cincinnati
This could be considered the game of the week along with the Hawks game. SD is hot, hot, hot right now, but Cincy really needs a win. Seems like Palmer is still having some struggles with his injury, so we like SD here in a close one, 28-24
San Francisco at DetroitToilet bowl of the week!!!!!!! We love John Kinta at Seattle Sports Blog, so we'll take Detroit 20-17
Washington at Philadelphia
This will also be a great game this week, although Washington is pretty beat up right now with Moss and Portis being Questionable. We like Philly here in a close, low scoring game: 17-14
Denver at Oakland
Oakland is the worst team in the NFL, bottom line. Denver here all the way, 38-14
Dallas at Arizona
OK, we take that back...Arizona is the worst team in the NFL. Dallas also here big, 35-7
New Orleans at Pittsburgh
Pitts is heading to being a toilet bowl team soon. Damn, if only they hadn't paid the refs last year, we would have won the Superbowl. NO here easily (no pun intended!) 21-9
St. Louis at Seattle
GAME OF THE WEEK. Seattle will have their hands full with St. Louis this week, who is coming off an embarrassing loss at home to KC. Seneca will have to play like he did on Monday night and take a few more chances down field. Same with Morris...we need another 100+ yards out of him. Defensively? LB's stop the run, blitz effectively, and don't get beat deep CB's and FS and SS. This will be a hard fought game in which the Hawks will need everyone in the 12th Man to scream like crazy. Hawks here in a close one, 21-17
Chicago at N.Y. Giants
OK, so this might actually be the game of the week. These 2 teams are too evenly matched to make a prediction, so we went with NYG solely based off home field advantage. NYG here in a close one, 34-30
Tampa Bay at Carolina
Carolina needs a win, bottom line. We like them still despite their 4-4 record.....Carolina 24-13

Seahawks pull off an ugly win

Seattle Seahawks Blog

Boy, was that an ugly win or what!?!?!?!?!?! Anyone who is really happy with that win is fooling themselves. We did what we needed to do to win, but Oakland is a BAD team people. Think the Rams noticed how bad we played against a terrible team? Seattle better be prepared for a team with revenge on their mind next week.

Game balls: Have to credit the 4 man front who destroyed Oakland's front line. Especially Terrell, who basically pushed his man into Walker on numerous occassions. Still was not happy with the blitz packages....we do NOT do a good enough job with distguising our blitzing.....you almost always know when we are blitzing. Moreover, we NEVER blitz on third and long....Lofa or Hill might show blitz, but instead they drop back. That game would have been a lot closer had Moss and others hung onto the ball on some of those passes. Other game balls should go to Morris and Seneca...they did just enough to get the W, and that's all we needed. No fumbles or INT's and that helped tremendously.

Goats? Womack continues to get beat up, bottom line. Can we put Sims back in there? And Ashworth? He's flabby, and was called on numerous false starts. Stevens continues to be an idiot, bottom line. He thinks he's some sort of Thug or something while continuing to drop balls and make costly turnovers. Get your act together Stevens and catch the damn ball.

Alexander? Continues to be a question mark for next week, although it still doesn't look good. We need him against St. Louis, bottom line.

Seahawks, Huskies Basketball, Sonics and more

Seattle Seahawks blog

Another tough week for NFL picks, although we here at Seattle Sports Blog went 8-5 with the Seahawks game still pending. Overall record remains strong at 79-42.

Seahawks:

Big game tonight and one that we consider "a must win." It's time for the Defense to get back to the basics....tackling, blitzing, sacking, and INT's for TD's. If the offense can remain consistant, we should win this game. Weather is ugly, which should benefit our team. It's what makes Seahawks Stadium what it is...kick ass fans and shitty weather.....perfect for us.

Huskies basketball blog:

An easy win over St. Martin's (ok, be honest, who the hell has heard of this school?) and there are some early indicators that Pondexter is going to be special. Appleby also looked solid with 20 points. Brockman and Dentmon looked to struggle, but they'll come around. We are VERY excited about this team year and think we can take the Pac-10. Given the status of the Sonics and the M's, the Huskies hoop squad is #2 at Seattle Sports Blog's favorite teams right now.

Seattle Sonics Blog:

Gritty win over LA last night and hopefully this can provide some fuel for this team out of the gates. Ridnour, Allen, and Lewis are going to have to lead this team this year and if we can get solid contributions from Wilcox, we could be a playoff team. What's going on with Collison? Not off to the best of starts. Ridnour seems to have found his shot averaging 18.1 PPG and 7.3 ASG so far....keep it up Luke.

Great article on UW Hoops

Washington Hoops Blog

Great stuff from ESPN on the dawgs this year....with the Hawks struggling, the Sonics sucking, what else do we have to look forward to?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

ESPN article

Seattle Sports Blog view? We should be really good this year.......and GREAT next year of Hawes, Brockman, and Pondexter stick around. The key this year? Strong play from Dentmon. A good PG can get you far into the tourney, bottom line. He did great against Illinois in the sweet 16 last year

NFL Network is a bad idea

National Sports Blog

OK, this is starting to make the NFL look like the WWF. What the hell are they doing charging for individual games like this?

NFL network games

This is stupid, bottom line. Bad move NFL for these pay per view games. They will use this data to see what city is most interested in willing to pay for games and continue to roll out more games year over year.

Anyone who is an NFL fan out there, do NOT pay for these games....it's ridiculous and should not be part of the fans experience. Ban the NFL Network, ban the NFL network, do not watch these games and do not pay for them.
