NFL Week 4 predictions

A tough week last week for SBB going 9-5 in our predictions. Overall, however, we still maintain a strong 30-12 record going into week #4. A big game for the Hawks this weekend vs. a 3-0 Chicago team. However, we won't be too upset if we lose this game...let's be honest folks, they won't go 16-0 in the regular season.

Week #4 predictions:

Arizona at Atlanta
Just when you thought AZ was becoming a good team, Warner goes and throws 3 INT's and fumbles all over the place. AZ has some serious QB issues now....Atlanta here, 30-21
Dallas at Tennessee
This game might be closer than people are predicting. Dallas will still take them with or without T.O, but it will be an ugly win.....14-10
Indianapolis at N.Y. Jets
Indy usually struggles in NY, but having already played there vs. the Giants this year, that may help with their "psychie". Indy here, 34-21
Miami at Houston
Battle of the UGLIES!!!!!!! Marlins 9, Astros 6
Minnesota at Buffalo
Two of our favorite franchise hear dating back to the AFL years, these old teams will be in for a regular dogfight. We like Buffalo's defense right now, but Minnesota has a smart QB that can pick them apart. We see this as one of the better games of the weekend with Minn pulling out an upset....27-24
New Orleans at Carolina
Another very interesting match-up of teams that are really on the fence. Is NO for REAL? Is Carolina as bad as they've started? Carolina is 100% dependent on Steve Smith, no doubt about it. With him in (which he is this week), we see Carolina here 31-17
San Diego at Baltimore
Battle of 2 of the best defenses in pro football. San Diego has a madman of a rusher Merriman and Baltimore just has a flat out quick, agile group. Baltimore simply since they are at home, 20-14
San Francisco at Kansas CityWe think this might actually be an entertaining game with SF pulling it out, 17-7. KC just has no QB right now
Detroit at St. Louis
As much as we like Kitna at SBB since he's a CWU grad, St. Louis will tear them apart. Expect a big game from Bulger and Jackson, St. Louis 28-13
Cleveland at Oakland
Battle of MORE uglies, Cleveland 13-9
Jacksonville at Washington
Who's for real here? Jax coming off a loss at Indy and Washington coming off a win vs. Houston? We like Jax, 29-24
New England at Cincinnati
We think that Brady's magic is running out in NE and Cincy is on too much of a roll. Cincy here, 35-23
Seattle at Chicago
GAME OF THE WEEK!!!!! OK, now that we have that out of the way. Seattle is simply not the same team without Alexander, bottom line. Even though he hasn't produced much this year, he is still our #1 cog in our offense. Detroit, AZ, and NYG all ran 8 man fronts against Seattle...coupled with the fact the guys been hurt. Chicago will be reved up this game as they feel cheated from not playing Seattle last year in the NFC championship game. Chicago here, 27-17

Green Bay at Philadelphia
Green Bay, despite their win last week, still is having some serious issues on both ends of the football. Philly looks good here, 23-10

Shaun Alexander out

Not good, although, Morris should be able to set it up and deliver just like he did against WA in the playoffs last year

Seattle PI video on Seahawk fans

This is pretty cool.....

Seattle Seahawks Fans

Also, we forgot to comment on the DAWGS beating UCLA...does the weekend get any better in Seattle? That was a "statement" game folks and hopefully UW can ride this one to victory for a while. Not sure if it required a Gatorade shower, but still, a big, big win for this program.

Also some cool nicknames from Wikipedia, quite possibly the coolest website out there.

Finally, Seattle Sports Blog went 9-4 this weekend with still the Atlanta NO game to finish. Overall record: 30-11

Seahawks DESTROY

Wow, what an ass whooping, no other way to put it. We were at the game handing out 500 free Seattle Sports Blog footballs and beer openers and having a blast for pre-game.

Make no mistake about it, Seattle dominated that game. The national audience might see the game being closer from the score, but Seattle absolutely destroyed them. We have NEVER heard Seahawks Stadium that loud before as the crowd came prepared.

Positives: If you watch any of the post game highlights from the NY team, they were blown away by our offense and defensive schemes. Kudos to Holgrem and staff for pulling off some wizardry and keeping NYG on their toes. Hasselbeck looked great and really should have been pulled in the 3rd quarter...he didn't need to suffer those last 2 INT's. Alexander? Really not need yesterday.

Negatives: Only negatives we see were just letting NYG getting even remotely close at the end....other than that, DOMINATION!!!!!!

Game balls: Hasselbeck, Hamlin, and Chris Spencer. Why Spencer? His name was never called during that game...that is what you want from your backup LG. We hope that he remains there for the rest of the year......

Up next....a tough 3-0 Chicago team.....is Seattle ready? Yes, but so will Chicago. Should be a great game

NFL Week #3 predictions

Here are our picks for week #3.....so far, we are 21-7 in our picks for NFL games....not too shabby for a bunch of Seattle guys.

Byes: Dallas, Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego

Carolina at Tampa Bay
This will be a very close, low scoring game. A lot is riding on whether or not Steve Smith is healthy enough to play. TB's offense has been rather offensively in the bad way this season. We see Carolina pulling it out, 17-14
Chicago at Minnesota
"Battle of the Norris division!" Chicago is coming off a blowout win and Minn has looked good so far this year. Chicago is the first team that Minn's has faced with a strong offense. We see Chicago being able to pull this out due to their firepower, 24-17
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh
Probably game #2 of the week behind Seattle NYG.....Pitt is angry after getting their asses handed to them and Cincy hasn't really been challenged yet this year. We'll give it to Cincy, just based off the fact that we HATE the Steelers. Cincy here, 30-20
Green Bay at Detroit
"Battle #2 of the Norris Division!" Although, these teams are HORRIBLE this year. We all know how much Farve hates playing in domes and on turf. Detroit needs a win and we think they have the ability to beat GB......ugly game, Detroit 14-10
Jacksonville at Indianapolis
Another great match-up here, although, Jax has no where near the offensive talent that Indy does. If you recall in 2005, Jax played them well for a dog fight of a game in Indy, 10-3. We see Indy being able to open this game up a bit more and pull it out 20-6
N.Y. Jets at Buffalo
Ah, the battle of the NY teams. NYJ might be without Coles this weekend, and that scares us. Buffalo should be 2-0 after blowing that game vs. NE. Buffalo here, 17-13
Tennessee at Miami
Tenn is in the toilet, no doubt about it. Fisher has his hands full with a rebuild project right now...Miami here easily, 28-7
Washington at Houston
Houston should have drafted Bush, that's all we can say. That DE hasn't done crap for them this year. Bush is a legit stud for many years to come. This will also be an ugly game...we'll give it to Houston, 17-10
Baltimore at Cleveland
Baltimore's D has been unreal this year giving up just 7 points....that's insane! Cleveland already has team dessension with Winslow complaining about not getting the ball enough. Not good, Baltimore here, 38-13
N.Y. Giants at Seattle GAME OF THE WEEK!
NYG will have revenge on their minds from last years debacle....oh, how we all remember Shockey pointing at the camera's thinking the game was over....not too fast goldie locks. Seattle fans were stellar last year and will be even more pumped from all this hububb about "artifical noise"....what a load of crap! Hawks win, 33-20
Philadelphia at San Francisco
SF is a much better team this year and they proved it against St. Louis last week. Philly is coming off a tough, tough home loss. We think McNabb can pull them together for a 21-20 squeeker.
St. Louis at ArizonaThis will hopefully be a run and gun type of game. Both high powered offenses with good QB's, RB's, and WR's. AZ here at home, 45-35
Denver at New EnglandBoy, think NE will have revenge on their minds from last year's JOKE of a playoff game? NE got robbed by the officials in that game last year (course, same can be said of the Raiders/NE playoff "tuck" game a few years back). NE here on revenge, 27-21
Atlanta at New Orleans
Welcome back to the NFL NO! Unfortunately, you've run into the hottest team in the NFL....Atlanta wins 35-21

Seahawks Noise issue?

What an absolute joke....

Seattle Times article on Seattle fans

Hey NFL, Seattle has real fans, and dammit, we're loud. No artificial noise needed....we just love our Hawks. Rob us of a Superbowl by playing favorites for Pittsburgh? We get even louder!!!!! Let's give them HELL this weekend against New York

Hawks, Hydros, Dawgs, and more

A busy weekend for any Seattle Sports Blog enthusiast. Congrats to UW stealing one from Frenso State....wait, did we really pull out a sqeeker from FS? UW Football still has a long, long way to go.

Hydroplanes: A wild run of events down in San Diego this weekend. National High points team? Formula Boats II...that purchase of those old Budwieser boats sure paid off. Our favorite hydroplane team? U-37 Beacon Plumbing....way to take it to the Elam team and beat them up all season long. Villwock has his work cut out for him to get to Muncy. We feel for the Oberto team and Steve David....probably the closest this team has ever come to winning the national championship. At least he was able to pull in the driver championship again this year. Another great year overall for Hydroplanes and we look forward to 2007!!!!

Seahawks: Another ugly, gritty win for this team. Give AZ credit, they mixed things up defensively and have Hasselbeck headaches all day. Speaking of D? How about that Hawks Defense!!!! Seattle Seahawks defense has allowed 1 TD all year long. That's impressive and as they say, defense wins championships.

The offensive line still needs to patch up some holes. Jones is hurt and Womack continues to get beat. Drop passes and the kicking game still need work as wel.....but a W is a W in the NFL, and 2-0 is mighty nice if you ask us.

Finally, we went 13-2 this week in our week #2 NFL predictions.....think we know football at Seattle Sports Blog? Just call us "Vega$" baby

Week #2 NFL Predictions

Here are our picks for week #2....we were 8-5 last week, in a tough week for picks.

Buffalo at Miami 1:00 p.m.
Buffalo looked good for 3 quarters vs. NE.....Miami the same against Pitt. We see Miami having more weapons and too tough to beat at home....Miami 35-10
Carolina at Minnesota 1:00 p.m.
This is one of the better games of the week.....Minn coming off a big win @ WA and Carolina losing at home vs. Atlanta. I think Carolina is over-rated this year, so I'm giving this one to Minn, 24-17
Cleveland at Cincinnati 1:00 p.m.
Cincy here all the way and big, 42-14
Detroit at Chicago 1:00 p.m.
This could also be a very compelling game this week.....is Detroit as good as they played vs. the Hawks? Where is Chicago after romping a beat-up GB team? We think Chicago gets the nod here, 17-13
Houston at Indianapolis 1:00 p.m.
Indy scores 50......52-7
New Orleans at Green Bay 1:00 p.m.
GB is now officially in the toilet.....NO here in a sqeeker, 28-24
N.Y. Giants at Philadelphia 1:00 p.m.
Another great game of the week.....I really like the weapons NYG brings to the table.....Burress, Manning, Barber, Shockey? That's a great deal of talent. NYG 35-31
Oakland at Baltimore 1:00 p.m.
Oak is going no-where this year....Baltimore is....17-3 final
Tampa Bay at Atlanta 1:00 p.m.
Hmmmmm, something tells me TB is headed to the toilet as well after getting killed at home. Atlanta here, 28-17
Arizona at Seattle 4:05 p.m.
Honestly, not being "hommers", we believe here at SBB that this is truely the game of the week. Can Seattle's D stop AZ potent offense? Can Seattle's offense get off and running in 2006? A closer game than people expect and I think a low scoring affair......Seattle takes it, 24-21
St. Louis at San Francisco 4:05 p.m.
SF is looking better this year, but so is St. Loius....St. Louis 38-24
Kansas City at Denver 4:15 p.m.
KC is in a world of hurt, even more so with Green out. Denver easy in this one.....42-17
New England at N.Y. Jets 4:15 p.m.
J-E-T-S are improved this year, but can't handle NE and Brady yet. Brady with a fourth quarter winner, 24-17
Tennessee at San Diego 4:15 p.m.
SD looks really good this year, and LT is the #1 RB in football right now....SD 34-7
Washington at Dallas:
Great battle of WR's here with Moss and Owens....Dallas takes it given they are at home, 30-27

Seahawks welcome Branch

Is this guy the missing link for us to win the big one? Could be, however, we need to get his QB more time to throw the ball. Mark our words, Womack will be on the bench by week #4.

Branch brings a new element to our team that is lacking depth at WR. He has "big play" potential and is incredibly quick with the ball in his hands. We liked Ruskell's comments too...."the draft is a crapshoot, but Branch is a proven winner."

Check out the video on Seahawks.com

Week #1 Analysis

A very, very, very ugly win Seattle fans.....maybe we aren't giving Detroit's defense enough credit here, but our offense looked horrible.....especially Pork Chop Womack. He was continiously beat, made terrible blocks, almost broke Jones' leg, and is an eye sore of a LG all together. Our offense play calling also looked terrible....where are the trick plays? We need to consider running the Shotgun. I know that it's not part of Holgrem's scheme, however, Hasselbeck needs more time to set up. Picking up Branch will be a HUGE help, however, there still needs to be some decisions made to mix things up offensively. Defense looked great, no issues there.

For our week #1 picks, we went 8-5 so far with 2 games remaining...not bad considering all the upsets.

Week #1 NFL predictions

Here are our predictions for week #1 in the NFL....keep in mind we had a 73% correct pick percentage last year, so it's worth hearing our point of view on these predictions.

Miami at Pittsburgh 8:30 p.m.
Miami 24-17...We all HATE the Steelers, and besides, C.Batch is a joke of a QB
Atlanta at Carolina 1:00 p.m.
This is the game of the week. I like Carolina's fire power, however, with Steve Smith on the fritz, it will be close. I see them pulling this out, 17-13 Carolina
Baltimore at Tampa Bay 1:00 p.m.
Another interesting match-up that has oddsmakers scratching their heads. We think TB is too tough at home, 14-10 TB
Buffalo at New England 1:00 p.m.
NE still has Brady, enough said. NE big, 30-10
Cincinnati at Kansas City 1:00 p.m.
Another intriguing game here....is Palmer ready? Does KC have a defense? Cinn has too many weapons regardless of how hard it is to play in KC......Cinn 27-20
Denver at St. Louis 1:00 p.m.
Denver is not good in domes or turf, but the Rams are a hurting bunch.....Denver here, 24-20
New Orleans at Cleveland 1:00 p.m.I think Cleveland is a sleeper this year....they take NO, 24-7
N.Y. Jets at Tennessee 1:00 p.m.
A battle of uglies here...will either team win 4 games this year? Tenn is good at home, and that's about it. Tenn 13-3
Philadelphia at Houston 1:00 p.m.
Houston may have made the mistake of the century not taking Bush...Philly all the way, 28-10
Seattle at Detroit 1:00 p.m.
Hawks have too many weapons for Detroit and this well help exercise the demon's of 2005...Seattle big, 34-17
Chicago at Green Bay 4:15 p.m.
Battle of the Norris division...too bad it will be 80 degrees at game time....Chicago here 20-17....Farve we think is done unfortunately
Dallas at Jacksonville 4:15 p.m.Too up and coming teams here...we love Jax D, so we think they can tame T.O. and company....Jax 20-17 in a great game
San Francisco at Arizona 4:15 p.m.
Another battle of uglies, but given the right sauce, AZ might be a good team this year....if they can get Warner out, even better. AZ here, 23-17
Indianapolis at N.Y. Giants 8:15 p.m.
The Manning's duke it out.....Peyton wins this one, 34-31 in a thriller
Minnesota at Washington 7:00 p.m.
Gibbs will have the hogs on a roll.......35-17
San Diego at Oakland 10:15 p.m.
Ah yes, two teams that really hate each other in the blackhole...what could be better? We'll take Oakland with an upset here, 24-20

Jimmy Williams and Josh Scobey? Seriously?

Jimmy Williams: Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this the same guy that had all those fumble issues last year returning punts? The Hawks for the most part make smart moves, but I have to disagree with this one.....Scobey also has some serious fumble issues (aka first game of the year last year)

Seattle Seahawks 2006 opener!

Boy, the 2006 season could not start soon enough. Can we please drop the pre-season to 3 games? Pretty please?

Well, at least we have the Hawks to look forward to after another terrible year from the Mariners....we are back to circa 1994 people....the Mariners suck, there is no other way to describe that team. Terrible upper management my fellow Seattlites....call for their heads now or we will be stuck in mediocrity for the next 30 years! Welcome to the Kansas City Royals and Pittsburgh Pirates league....what a blast!

Seahawks and the rest of the NFL week #1 predictions to follow later this week...stay tuned!
