Here we go again, on the downturn of a 3 game losing streak to the A's....and the rollercoaster ride to a sub-par .500 season. When is the NBA draft? When do the Hawks start playing again? When does UW Hoops start again? Getting swept is one thing, getting your ass handed to you is another.
Let's face the facts here people....and NOT sugercoat everything that the Seattle papers are trying to convey:
1. Felix Hernandez is not healthy enough to be playing (or, he's just not ready this year). Phenom? Yes at 19, but he's 2-5 this year w/ a 5.00+ era and fading fast after that deplorable A's game. Send him to the minors and get him "major league ready."
2. Bozo Basavi's 2 major, major pick up's are not performing. Beltre? .202, 2 HR's. Sexson? 201 w/ 4 HR's and close to leading the way in strikeouts again in 2006. The Mariners will not be a good team until the get rid of Basavi, Howard Lincoln, and Chuckie Armstrong. It's time for change folks
3. If this team is able to make something of this year, and they certainly can only being 5 games back, it needs to happen now. At 17-25, their next 3 opponents are all struggling: San Diego, Baltimore (coming off a 13 game losing streak), and Minn. Seattle SHOULD be able to take 2-3 from all these teams, and in some instances, sweep. Otherwise, it's only going to widen the gap vs. the other teams in their division.
