Mariners pull out 2 of 3 from Chicago

They're like the Microsoft stock: they win some, they lose some, and in the end, the end up right around the same place they started. I'll give Jarod Washburn some prop's from that performance. Still, anyone out there think he's going to do anything else than a 12-12 season w/ a 4.25 ERA?

From our earlier post regarding Bosavi moves, I take back what I was saying about Reed. He's no longer a "so-so" OF, now hitting a whopping .206! I mean, how much did Bozo really scout these guys? Or did he just wilt under the pressure to release Freddy since he requested to be traded?

Mariners trades

Wonder why the Mariners are struggling these days?

Let's take a look at the brilliant moves by Howard "I should not be the CEO of the Mariners", Chuckie Armstrong, and Bill "Bozo" Basavi:

Trade: Reed, Olivo, and Mike Morse for Freddy Garcia. Reed is still w/ the team and doing a so-so job in CF....still, you would like better HR and average #'s from your outfielder. Morse and Olivo? Morse is out of the league, Olivo is tearing it up for the Marlins, hitting .300 w/ 3 HR's. Garcia? All he did was pitch a shutout in the World Series last year, go 14-8 w/ a 3.87 ERA, and is already 3-1 in 2006. Status? Brilliant move M's!

Trade: Randy Winn for Torrealba and Foppert. Winn hit .359 last year w/ the Giants and it already hitting over .300 for them this year. Torrealba? No longer w/ the M's, and even when we had him, he hit .240 w/ 2 HR's. Foppert? Can't seem to find his information anywhere.....tumble weeds. Status? Brilliant moves M's!

Free Agents: Beltre, Washburn, Sexson: Sexson is the only bright spot on this list, but is hitting .260 w/ 40 HR's and 160+ strikeouts what we need? I'd take a .300 hitter w/ 30 HR's and 130 RBI's any day.....we should have gone after Guerrero harder. Belte and Washburn? How's a .111 batting average for Beltre and a 1-3 mark for Washburn sound? Status? Brilliant moves M's!

Time for Nintendo to fire Lincoln, Basavi, and Chuckie...NOW!

7-13 Mariners? Time for some changes?

Let's take a poll:

Who will be the first to go?

A. Chuckie "I can't run an organization" Armstrong?
B. Bill "Bozo" Basavi?
C. Beltre "I can't hit a HR or hit for average in Seattle" Beltre?
D. The deep porches in Safeco? We might be able to attract some real baseball players if Safeco was smaller
E. Mike "I rode the coat tails on a stacked Cleveland team where I really didn't have to manage and now I'm stuck in Seattle" Hargrove?

Seattle, the Mariners are in real trouble and if changes don't come quick, achieving .500 might be a challenge. What's interesting is Forbes.com list the Mariners as the 8th most profitable team in baseball....think that will last when they start attracting 8,000 fans a game like they used to do from 1982 to 1994? Hey Nintendo, wake up!?!?!? Make this team better or we won't come to the games!!!!

Shaun Alexander: Madden 2007 Cover

Congrads to Shaun Alexander for gracing the cover of the Madden 2007 cover. Let's hope that the Madden jinx does NOT continue!

Mariners, Huskies, and more

M's: "My, oh-no, My" should be the motto of this year's team. A 4 walk 9th inning for steady Eddie? OK folks, I'll give him 1 maybe 2 more tries and if he continues this woeful pitching, it's TIME for Soriano. He is nails, in baseball terms.

UW Hoops: Great day in UW hoops w/ the signing of Isiah Thomas, a top local junior that some say is top 10 in the nation. The other good news is that Hawes has mentioned that he plans on staying at least 2 years, so if you can see into your crystal ball....7-0 Hawes, 6-8 Brockman, Dentmon, Thomas, and maybe Joel Smith as the starters in 2008? What a team, what a ball-club that would be!

Sonics? Time to draft Roy and get things settled w/ the city. Time to cough up some more money, either side. Keep the Sonics in Seattle, that's all I can say.

Arrgg! Seattle Pirates co-sponsored Hydroplane

I'm very impressed w/ the direction of the Hydroplane tour, especially now that the Seattle Pirates are no affiliated w/ Billy S.'s new boat, the Miss Seattle.

It's like old times my friends.......

Why the Sonics should draft Brandon Roy

If he is still available in the 6-11 draft position (which is looking like where Seattle will have a pick), I strongly suggest that the Sonics take Roy in this spot. I have seen early draft predictions for the Sonics selecting Sheldon Williams, which would help our lack of a shot blocker, but we can also hope that Petro and Swift will beef up in the off-season to be that legit shot blocker. Moreover, Williams inside moves lack true big man skill...his best shot is his dunk.

So why does Brandon Roy make sense? He's a 6-6 slasher/all around ball player. He can shoot, pass, rebound, and penetrate, something Seattle hasn't had since Detlef. Some might say "we have this w/ Rashard Lewis." However, I still strongly believe Lewis is soft and not the answer here. Roy also went relatively unoticed this year playing on the West Coast, which only ups his stock for a local talent.

This is a no brainer in my mind and hopefully if he's still around when the Soups draft they can make the right decision in Brandon Roy: Seattle Supersonics.

Great blown win, Mariners

Up 5-4 in the 8th, who do they bring in? Mr. consistancy himself, that's right folks, JJ. "I wish I wasn't such a Putz" to give up the tying run. Ok, ok, you settle down, game is now tied going into the 9th. Seattle strings together a couple of singles, a groundout, and waamo! 6-5 lead. Oh, but wait, "steady Eddie" is coming in to save the game, Mr. 9.00 ERA (soon to be 12.00 ERA). Strike out, strike out, single, home run to Mark Loretta, BALL Game! Is he the next Ayalya? Let's hope not.

"Welcome to your 2006 Seattle Mariners. Please fasten your selt belts for a wild, up and down, .500 season"

Old driver returning to Hydroplane racing

Great article from the PI on Billy Schumacher, who is returning to the sport after nearly 30 years. It's great to see the sport being revived!

Sonics leaving Seattle?

Ah yes, the power of money. The NBA is all up in arms over the fact that Key Arena doesn't have enough luxury boxes and is threatening to pull the Sonics out of Seattle. The NBA is such a joke right now, especially Stern. Key Arena is one of the last actually cool NBA arena's where the fans are actually close to the court and the NBA does not have to import sound to make it sound loud. If you recall, the league got caught doing this a few years back.....the story went away, and now they are doing it again.

I hope Seattle keeps the soops, but do we really need to pay more taxes on another stadium, when Key Arena is perfectly fine?

Boycott on Flight 93 movie

Ok, so once in a while we'll comment here on things other than sports....and this is a subject matter that must be brought to attention. Do NOT see Flight 93, in fact, boycott the movie. Do you really think it's time for Hollywood to make millions on this movie being made? Do you really believe the film makers really went to each and every family involved in Flight 93 for their endorsement for this movie to be made. The producers and executives are going to make close to $40-$50M on Flight 93....do you really think it's time for people to be making money off of this event?

2006 Seattle Mariners

....are starting to show their true colors. Absolutely LOVE these batting averages......Ichiro .176, Beltre .148, Jurassic Carl .115.

Hey folks, do you know how much Seattle is paying Beltre? $12,900,000 per year!!!!!! He hit 19 homers last year folks....that's $630K per Home Run. Damn, I could do better than that! Of course, he tore it up during the World Series Classic for the Dominican Republic. Maybe the M's should be more involved in the country so Adrian feels more at home...

BTW, who the hell is Jeff Pentland, the M's hitting coach? Bozo Basavi and Chuckie Armstrong are picking some cream of the crop, let me tell ya.

Mariners 2006

OK, so the verdict's still out on this team (especially Beltre and the bullpen), but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. What has impressed me most is K.Johjima....he is CONTROLLING the Seattle pitches, making good decisions w/ pitch calls, and has a strong bat. I know I'll piss off a lot of mom's in Seattle saying this, but ole' softy Dan Wilson should have been let go about 4 years ago. We finally have a good catcher it appears, and like in basketball w/ point gaurds, smart catchers win games.

2006 Seattle Seahawks Schedule

I'd have to say I'm pretty pleased w/ the "schedule gods" this year for Seattle. 2 Monday night games, both in Seattle....NEVER happened before. We must be becoming a popular team, eh? Honestly speaking, I see this team going 13-3 or 12-4 w/ this schedule. 13-3 w/ losses to @ Chicago, @ KC, and @ Denver. More likey, those same loses w/ a slip up somewhere (it's the NFL people).

UCLA loses; Mariners stumble

It pains me to have to even comment on the Mariners these days. 6th inning, no out, bases loaded....where's Gorman Thomas when you need him? Instead, Reed strikeout, fly ball, Ichiro ground out. Yippie! Also, is there a more appropriate name on this team than JJ Putz? What a Putz! That guy continues to get rocked, and Hargrove continues to go to him. The M's have 2 good relievers....steady Eddie and Soriano. That's it people. How do you improve a bullpen? You make free agents moves! We did nothing to improve this bullpen over the offseason....see ya later Bill the Bozo Basavi.

For UCLA, they shouldn't have even been in the championship game considering Gonzaga got robbed in that sweet 16 game. I would have rather seen a Zags-Florida championship game to be honest w/ you. Florida was very over-powering inside, especially Noah. That guy can dribble, block shots, and has some nice inside moves. Sonics pick? You never know......

Support the MXGP Motocross Track in Maltby, Washington

The whole deal started with MXGP utilizing a piece of land that only MX riders really knew of - near a prison. In the end, they were kicked off, here is the article with the overview:
http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/04/12/20/100loc_box001.cfm

This guy does not want a track out in Maltby, please explain in nice ways why the Motorcross community is a valuable asset to Maltby, not a liability: http://nomotorcrossinmaltby.blogspot.com

Good News: Snohomish beefs up the option to at least have ORV parks.
