As we draw closer and closer to THE GAME, I'll be adding daily tidbits to the Blog about the match-up. Next week I'll be providing more in-depth position by position breakdown and my keys to the game. Does it get better than this Seattle fans? We're on locally every news station, ESPN, SI.com, NFL.com, Superbowl.com....EVERYWHERE....and I Love it!
Here is a quick breakdown of common opponents for these teams. I'm excluding the Indy, Houston, and Green Bay game: Indy did not play their starters vs. Seattle, Seattle did not play there starters vs. Green Bay, and well, Houston just sucks period.
Tennessee:
@Pittsburgh, Steelers 34-7. Recap: McNair had a bad game w/ 1 INT, 3 Fumbles, of which 1 was lost. Travis Henry also fumbled in the game. Willie Parker had 160+ yards rushing w/ Ben R. throwing for 2 TD's
@ Tennessee, Seahawks 28-24. Recap: Seattle came out guns a firing this game and were up big early....then, we went into our soft prevent D and Tennessee capitalized on our mistakes. This was a good wake-up call for this team. SA had 170+ yards rushing while Hasselbeck threw for 3 TD's
Advantage? I'd have to say Seattle here, even though the score doesn't reflect it. Seattle dominated Tennessee, then got lazy. The score should have been 42-10
Jacksonville:
@ Pittsburgh, Jags 23-17: Recap. Pittsburgh was playing w/out Big Ben, and it cost them the game @ home. His replacement Tommy Maddux threw an INT in OT that was returned for a game winning TD.
@ Jacksonville, Jags 26-14. First game of the season and Seattle was rusty....especially Hasselbeck. What Seattle needs to learn from this game is that Pittsburgh will bring a # of different looks for Matt, especially blitzes. He will need to do a better job vs. a similar type of Defense in Pittsburgh in order for Seattle to win.
Advantage? Steelers, for barely losing a game w/out their top QB. Seattle was dominated vs. a really aggressive D and should expect the same type of tenacity vs. Pittsburgh. I'm confident Seattle will win, however, they just need to be prepared w/ smart draw plays and screens.
