I know it's only Monday, but my mind is already set at 1:30 PST for this game. Beer in hand, this is what the Hawks regular season triumphs are all about...the PLAYOFFS.
Keys to the game vs. WA
1. Once again, it's crowd noise. Yup, the fans are going to have to "get hoarse" during these playoffs, even if our team gets down 14-0 early. We have HOME FIELD advantage folks and it's time for us to shine on the NFL pedestel.
4. Alexander. I'd like to see SA bang some people around this game and show them who's boss. WA is going to come out guns a firing....watch out for cheap shots. They are going to try and muscle Seattle around....stay firm, and PUSH them around.
3. Defense: THe Redskins have 2 threats offensively, THAT's IT PEOPLE! Moss should be doubled the whole game and have Trufant on him...bottom line, no questions asked. They also have 2 dynamic TE's that love to exploit the middle of the field....keep Lofa and other LB's stuck to them. Portis is not much of a recieving option, however, he is a heck of a RB. We will also need to plan blitzes accordingly....Brunell is OLD, HHH (Hit Him Hard). Finally, watch out for trick plays....the last 2 games Portis had attempted to throw for TD's. Watch for a fake punt, etc.
4. Hasselbeck: Again, I see SA having a big game and all Matt H has to do is stay consistent and not make mistakes. WA has a so-so secondary, so we should be able to open things up here. I see screens and draws being extremely effective vs. this D...they are going to be showing a lot of 8 man fronts and blitzing LB's to try and combat our massive line. We like to run 3 WR sets, so keep the D off-balance w/ the draws/screens.
Prediction? Seattle should take care of a beat up WA team, 30-17.

Nice notes James. Here are my thoughts. I can't help but get the same feeling being a seahawks fan as I do a Cougs fan. It's a nervous feeling that no matter how good they are, you are just waiting for something bad to happen. Now, I don't want to take ALL the credit for this year's Apple Cup, but when the Cougs were down with about 5 minutes to play, my and my Cougs freinds were all watching the game nervous. I looked around the room and thought, this is not right. We need more confidence. So, I took them all into the kitchen and we took a shot of Jager and i gave them a speech on how this is the best part of the game and we should be havving fun, because we are better than the huskies and we're going to win. So, today as i nervously am thinkging about the skins, i had this revelation again. IT's time to enjoy this ! We're gonna win! Sure we never know what's going to happen, but we have a great team and we're a much better team! No being nervous! Enjoy the best time of the year!!!
Wait...... Washington State kids drink alcohol.
