First "Keys to the game" for Seattle
As mentioned, we'll be providing daily updates on keys to the game for Seattle to beat Pittsburgh, which again, will happen, and Seattle will "shock the NFL world."
It's media day at Ford Field which brings up my first key:
1. Seattle will need to stay focused on the game and not let the refs, media, or home town crowd affect their gameplay. Let's be honest folks, the commissioner of the NFL is going to have a little talk w/ the refs to give Pittsburgh the "questionable" calls.....Pittsburgh and Bettis are the darling favorites in this game and it's showing on "Media Day" at Ford Field. Half of the press left when Seattle took the podium.
2. Special Teams: ST almost cost Seattle the game vs. Washington w/ 2 muffed punts and a fumble by Scoobey....who I still do NOT like returning kicks. He's no Desmond Howard, Mr. Holmgren. Moreover, regardless of whether or not that was a block in the back, S.Smith basically walked into the endzone on that punt w/out anyone laying a finger on him. Hey Seattle, guess what??? Pittsburgh has an equally superb Punt Returner in Randel El. Put Trufant or someone w/ speed on the PUnt Return team to prevent the long TD return.
More to come later........

SEATTLE SPORTS BARS
Well, for all of you seattle seahawks sportsfans, you might be wondering, "Where should I watch the game?" Do I watch it at home, where the drinks are a plenty and much cheaper, out in town at a sports bar, or with grandma?
We're guessing you're going to choose one of the first two, although we commend anyone who has a grandma who is into the Seattle Seahawks!
Here are a few off the top of my head, more on this in a bit:
SPORT restaurant and bar:
Started by none other than the T-MAN from KUBE 93 and some other rest greats from around town. They have a lotto and TODAY is the last day to enter. They will draw later in the week and whoever gets drawn gets to pick their seats (up to 8 people) in the order they are drawn.
Fox Sports Grill:
They have quite a few TV's and will have some 80's ladies there too, out on the prowl for Mr. Right.......or at least Mr. Right Now. I love their mini burgers and ceasar salad, not sure if its really healthy though.
The Attic in Madison Park:
I used to live in the MP so I love the food there. It isn't huge but the grumpy waitress (who is really just joking - most of the time).

Superbowl week is here!

Wake up Seattle fans, you're not dreaming, the Hawks are now in Detroit and ready to roll over the Steelers. All 3,000 world wide media, all 60,000 fans at the game (ok, Ford field holds 70,000, but there's only about 10,000 Hawks fans there), all the millions of people watching this game will be SHOCKED when Seattle wins this game.....I can't wait to see the disappointment on the Bus!
Countdown begins....6 days, 5 hours, 8 minutes.......

Send off the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday
Seattle Seahawks fans are invited to Qwest Field on Sunday, January 29 to send the team off to Detroit for Super Bowl XL. Gates will open at 7 a.m. and festivities will begin at 8 a.m. in the Qwest Field North Plaza.
The event and parking are free of charge. The Seattle Times will distribute Seahawks cheer cards and Newsradio 710 KIRO will distribute rally towels.
Click here for the bulletin on this.
Seahawks President Tim Ruskell will address the crowd, thanking the Seahawks 12th Man for their on-going support this season. The fans played an instrumental role in the franchise advancing to its first-ever Super Bowl.

Seattle Seahawks switch from 12th man to 69th man campaign and launch bedding line.
Yeah right!
Well with the Seahawks success this year they have attracted just a little attention. It seems our friends in the south (Texas A&M) have decided that after 21 years of using "their" 12th man concept, they are going to put a stop to it and have requested a cease and desist - legalese for "shut your pie-holes seattle".
Click here for the article on this.
Now the real deal here is that they began using it in 1922 and I can appreciate a fan suiting up in the stands and not playing but this concept in itself is really only representative of what a fan is, someone who will dress up in all team gear and cheer their brains out.
Does this seem like an original concept that one can copyright?

UW hoop blog: UW loses to Cal
Someone other than Brandon Roy has to step up for this team or they are going nowhere in the Tournament. Where is Bobby Jones? He scored 8 points on 2-3 shooting. He's average is down this year, from 11.2 last year to 8.2 this year, and a lot of those points are against the lesser opponents of earlier in the year. Maybe it's his injuries, but as I said, someone has to step up. Jamaal Williams? 1-8? Quit shooting if your shot is off! This team needs a more balanced attack, bottom line. Steve Hawes, where are you now? We need you my man.....

Seahawks Steelers Superbowl: Seattle Sports Blog update #1
As we draw closer and closer to THE GAME, I'll be adding daily tidbits to the Blog about the match-up. Next week I'll be providing more in-depth position by position breakdown and my keys to the game. Does it get better than this Seattle fans? We're on locally every news station, ESPN, SI.com, NFL.com, Superbowl.com....EVERYWHERE....and I Love it!
Here is a quick breakdown of common opponents for these teams. I'm excluding the Indy, Houston, and Green Bay game: Indy did not play their starters vs. Seattle, Seattle did not play there starters vs. Green Bay, and well, Houston just sucks period.
Tennessee:
@Pittsburgh, Steelers 34-7. Recap: McNair had a bad game w/ 1 INT, 3 Fumbles, of which 1 was lost. Travis Henry also fumbled in the game. Willie Parker had 160+ yards rushing w/ Ben R. throwing for 2 TD's
@ Tennessee, Seahawks 28-24. Recap: Seattle came out guns a firing this game and were up big early....then, we went into our soft prevent D and Tennessee capitalized on our mistakes. This was a good wake-up call for this team. SA had 170+ yards rushing while Hasselbeck threw for 3 TD's
Advantage? I'd have to say Seattle here, even though the score doesn't reflect it. Seattle dominated Tennessee, then got lazy. The score should have been 42-10
Jacksonville:
@ Pittsburgh, Jags 23-17: Recap. Pittsburgh was playing w/out Big Ben, and it cost them the game @ home. His replacement Tommy Maddux threw an INT in OT that was returned for a game winning TD.
@ Jacksonville, Jags 26-14. First game of the season and Seattle was rusty....especially Hasselbeck. What Seattle needs to learn from this game is that Pittsburgh will bring a # of different looks for Matt, especially blitzes. He will need to do a better job vs. a similar type of Defense in Pittsburgh in order for Seattle to win.
Advantage? Steelers, for barely losing a game w/out their top QB. Seattle was dominated vs. a really aggressive D and should expect the same type of tenacity vs. Pittsburgh. I'm confident Seattle will win, however, they just need to be prepared w/ smart draw plays and screens.

Seattle Sonics Blog: Team starting to come around
How's this for a FACIAL on Ostertag????? What a dunk!!
![]() |
Back to back impressive road wins vs. Phoenix and Utah have me believing in this team again. Especially Robert Swift, who I admit, I thought was a TOTAL bust w/ the #12 pick. He still needs to prove himself, but stats like this are all you really need: 12 rebs, 2 blocks, 6 points vs. Utah. We don't need another scorer, just someone to fill the lane vs. our opponent. Let Rashard and Ray-Ray fill those rolls.
Also impressive has been Luke Ridnour. Has he finally found his golden touch? Maybe Hill has been working on his jump shot, which has been lights out these last 2 games. With all these changes to the line-up, it's easy to forget the Nick Collison's and Reggie Evans of the world. Evans wants out, and Collison's minutes have been reduced. I really like Collison, however, he's not a PF at 6-9 (which he played C @ Kansas and flourished). Unless he starts really hitting the weights, he's destined to be a role player who gets 15 minutes a night.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Slams Seattle Fans
I've got a little article here that I think will fire some SEATTLE SEAHAWKS FANS up! I suggest reading it and making sure we prove them wrong in every way possible. A friend of ours sent in a response so let's see if Chuck will publish it (below). Come oooooooon Chuck!
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06025/643760.stm
----------------------------------------------------------
Dear Chuck,
As a longtime Seattleite and die-hard Seahawks fan I, and most others in this city, take issue with the inference in your article that Seattleites are somehow "bandwagoners" and not true sports fans by virtue of the lack of paraphernalia you see on our streets, or rather ferry, as your article points out. It's quite the opposite, but the ways in which we show are support are merely different, as are many of the attitudes and customs in the Northwest. It's what makes us unique, and quite frankly what makes us proud to be from the Northwest. From our polar fleece and coffee, fishing, timber, aerospace and InfoTech industries, to our laid-back, casual-chic dress, grunge music and non-confrontational mannerisms, we are different. But, that does not make us any less of a sports city. Sure, you're not going to see a hundred Seahawk jerseys walking down the sidewalk on any given day, and you probably never will. We're understated and subtle, words not often used in the same sentence with Pittsburgh - or most of America for that matter.
What you will hear is the local barista discussing the game with a Microsoft executive, or the fishmonger contemplating a zone-blitz with a local musician. Spend enough time here and you'll even here a defendant and a prosecutor debating how best to beat a 3-4 defense, or a judge discussing whether Tim Ruskell is making a difference in how effective Holmgren is this year as a coach.
Spend a little time getting to know us and you'll begin to feel, if not outwardly see, that this city's veins are boiling with Seahawk fever. But that said, did you even watch the NFC Championship game? Did you see Qwest field, or the all-night party afterwards? What I saw is one of the loudest crowds in NFL history, and a city that literally stopped for those brief hours, waiting, wondering whether this could finally be our year, then exploding with joy. There's a reason we retired the 12th Man jersey.
What you may never know, as a non-Seattleite, is that we cheer as loud and are as proud as any Steeler fan. (actually, at Qwest we cheer louder) We follow our teams when they win and when they lose, and have done so since their inception. However, as your article recognizes we are used to being let down. Over one eleven-year span the Seahawks had two, count them, two winning seasons. Yet we still watched and cheered, including my season-ticket holding grandmother who faithfully yelled her eighty-year old lungs out each Sunday. And when the Hawks finally made the playoffs we were let down, in two consecutive years, with first-round losses. Twenty years is a long time to go without a playoff win Chuck, so excuse us if we happen to be slightly gun-shy. It's easy to develop a loyal following and hold on through the tough years when you have four Superbowl rings and memories to cling to. We have none, not even a single playoff win to cling to in more than 20 years. In fact, with the exception of the late '70's Sonics, we have no other professional sports championship team. What we do have is a long history of below-average teams, collapses from teams that were supposed to be contenders, and athletes who often played for our teams as though they were being punished by banishment to the Northwest.
Yet, still we manage to keep our teams going, build new stadiums and maintain enthusiasm at the bottom of the national sports market. Still we watch Sports Center with barely a mention of our sports teams, much less our Seahawks - despite their incredible season. Still we show up at games, read our papers, tune in to our local radio stations and watch from home. All this we do in the dark and in the rain, all-year around. In short, Chuck, if you truly got to know us instead of flying out for a survey only after we're headed to the Superbowl you'd realize that this town is filled with sports fans, and it's dying for this one victory to atone for the sins of the past, the terrible losses, the years of doubt, and the national media's current belief that Seattle is a stone's throw from Siberia.
This is a city that has, and always will be, the perennial underdog; and in true understated Northwest style we wouldn't have it any other way. February 5th would mean more to Seattle than you may ever know. And yet on February 6th, should the Hawks win, if you or others return to "measure" our support by counting jerseys and hats on the ferry, I'm sure your article will only be more of what we come to expect from the media, and even this reponse will never reach those in Pittsburgh leading them to continue in their belief that there likely are polar bears in Seattle. So make us a deal; come back if we win, dig a little deeper, take the time to put your finger on the pulse of the Emerald City and find out what a gem of a sports town we really are and how we root despite a lack of jerseys at Westlake Center. Then let the rest of America know what it means for the team that plays in the dark, that's always the "kid left out", and for a city that spent more than twenty days this month in the rain and more than twenty years without so much as a playoff win or any professional sports champion, to finally have a day in the sun. That's something that everyone in this country can relate to, and that's why - despite our lack of terrible towels - the Seahawks are a wonderful team to root for.

Seattle will win the Superbowl
![]() |
Does it really get any better than this for a Seahawks fan? Yesterday's game put this team on the map in the NFL and shut the national media who basically had a Pittsburg Carolina Superbowl in mind. Great, great win.....but it's not over. Let me stress this Seattle fans: I recieved a text message yesterday from a friend of mine about an hour before the game: "Nervous" (he was at the game). I replied with a simple reinforcement: "Confidence" Seahawk fans have not had much to be confident over in years past. This team you can be and I want them to ride this confidence into Detroit.
Re-cap of yesterday's game: I had predicted 30-14 (see earlier blogs), and Seattle met every key to the game that I had mentioned:
1. Shut down Steve Smith (3 catches, 33 yards...ballgame)
2. Alexander to play aggresive. Key answered
3. Big plays from an unlikely hero. Not as much of a factor here.
Big plays came from big players
4. Blitzing really not needed vs. Carolina when Goings went out....they had no running game
I also want all Seahawks fans to pay attention to what some national media folks were saying about this team....be sure to send them an email and let them know that they are jackasses!

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS HISTORY
Man, this is amazing, I've spent all 30 years of my life here in SEATTLE and to watch them beat Carolina yesterday was so awesome I could barely sit down to watch the game.
We were all watching every play and jumping, screaming and yelling...................and we weren't even at the game!
What a great day and great season to be a SEAHAWKS FAN!

UW Wins....Seahawks in 2 DAYS!!!
Anyone think that the Huskies are a bit overrated at #10? I mean, this is coming from a die-hard UW fan, however, a squeaker against OSU @ home? Not exactly worthy of a top ten ranking if you ask me. The team is really just missing something....a true center for one. It's too bad that Hawes did not come into play this year. Think of this lineup next year...C Hawes, PF Brockman, SF J. Smith, SG Appleby, PG Dentmon....I realllllly like that lineup. This team this year will go as far as Roy, Jones, and Williams can take them. I really feel bad for Jenson. He had such great Sophmore and Junior years and I was expecting 10.0+ PPG, but with his shoulder injury this year, he's struggled.
As far as the Seahawks......there is so much buzz going around this game it's ridiculous. The "Sexy" pick seems to be Carolina and everyone is putting Jake D as the next Tom Brady......too bad the national media and Carolina are in for a rude awakening this week. Carolina has NO RB people, and you need a RB to set up play action. I still think this is Seattle's year.....30-14 and off to the SB. Fans, go crazy this weekend, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Let the NFL know that this is not a small market team and that we deserve to be in the SB!!!

Hawks playoff news update
Holgrem has officially announced that Peter Warrick will be the PT for Seattle this week. Great news. Now Peter, start practicing w/ wet balls.....you understand what happened to Jimmy Williams, correct?
Also, better news: Nick Goings is not a good RB. I checked his stats from last year when he had a few 100+ games. How about a 3.2, 3.5, and 3.8 yard per carry in those games? As I indicated, he's a bruiser, but not a long run threat.
More to come......

Keys to the Victory for Seattle vs. Carolina
I'm very confident we will take of business this weekend. Home Field Advantage DOES have a major component in this game, regardless of what SI.com is saying http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/don_banks/01/17/road.teams/index.html
I truly believe this year's team is a team of destiny.
Here are my keys to beating this team (feel free to contribute your thoughts)
1. Contain Steve Smith: I cannot address this enough....Nick Goings is going nowhere. He is a bruiser, 3 to 5 yard type carrier. Smith can hurt you deep, on reverses, punt returns. Double this guy, and keep Trufant on him as much as possible.
2. I said this last week: Shaun Alexander has to play aggressively. Mike Ditka indicated that he think SA is soft and can't take big hits. I don't agree w/ him, but I do want to see SA talking some smack, hitting the hole hard. Apparently he was sick last week on meds, so expect to see a different player this week.
3. Big Game from an unlikely hero: Someone like a Joe J, a Bobby Engram, or a Jeremey Stevens need to make some big plays. Carolina will be keying on D-Jax and SA, so look for one of these guys to step up
4. Effectively blitzing: our 4 down lineman approach vs. WA will not work vs. Carolina. We need to blitz correctly on a 3rd and long to really stick them. Lofa can be a huge here
5. Smart play calling from the H's: Holgrem call a good game, Hasselbeck making smart audibles similar to those made last week
6. 12th Man: will not be as much of a factor against a good road team, but still needs to come. Everyone in that stadium should leave that game HOARSE
7. No TO's on ST: Get Jimmy Williams out as PT....put in Engram. Scoobey, I pray for your soul that you will NOT fumble again
8. NFL/National Media (ESPN, SI.com, Fox Sports, NFL): I'm a conspiracy theorist, so I'm hoping the NFL does not WANT Carolina in the Superbowl and will NOT give them close calls, etc. It's Seattle's time, and everyone from OR, Idaho, WA, and Vancouver are pulling for this team. Is that a big enough market for you for a big team to get into the Superbowl?

Seahawks News, updates, etc
News out of Seahawks camp is that Engram will be returning punts for us this weekend....THANK GOD!!!!!!!!
Reflective Thoughts:
The Seahawks playoff win kind of reminds me of the story of the 4 minute mile. No one thought it could be broken, and once it was, 3 or 4 guys broke the barrier proceeding the initial person.
I can say the same for the Seahawks in the playoffs. Now that they have this win, the confidence will continue to roll into the Superbowl now that they KNOW they can win playoff games.

Big Demon's Exercised this weekend
Boy, was Saturday a Seattle Sports Fan grandest day ever, or what? Not only did Seattle whooop up the Skins, but UW pulled out a great, great win vs. UCLA AT UCLA. So, not only did the Hawks win for the first time in the playoffs since 1984, UW won in the first time in UCLA since 1986! The Sun does actually shine in Seattle.
Hawks: Gutty, gutty win. I give the credit to Holgrem for calling a great game minus Alexander, for Hasselbeck finally calming down and playing smart (his tendancy to just lob the ball up when he's under pressure still worries me), and the DEFENSE! Man, talk about big hit after big hit in that game. And where was Santana Moss? Besides his LUCKY and I mean LUCKY TD, we really shut him down. We'll need to more of the same next week vs. the "Michael Jordan" of WR in the NFL....Steve Smith. He is ridiculously talented and I got to admit, a thrill to watch. TO......where are you and all your smack talkin? Trying to make a few buck doing commercials...you're a joke. OK, enough TO stuff.
I can't express enough about what a monkey it was for this team and city to get that first W in the playoffs. There are still a few things this team needs to work on this week before facing Carolina.
1. Hang on to the damn ball Jimmy Williams and Scobey.....these guys drive me crazy...especially Scobey. He fumbled on the first play of the season for Seattle....why does he still get to handle the ball?
2. As good as the D was, they need to get better for a much more talented Carolina team. We need to blitz Jake D...he's similar to Hasselbeck in that he cracks under pressure a bit...and can make some mistakes.
3. We will need to have Alexander back for this game. A win vs. a beat up WA team is one thing, a Carolina team on fire right now is another. I hope he can play.
4. I can't comment enough on getting pressure on Jake D....especially w/ their starting RB out w/ a broken ankle. Make the blitzes at the right time and we have this game.
5. Most importantly...CROWD NOISE! Keep up Seattle....we're almost there!

All Time Seahawks Team
Seattle Times today released their All Time Seahawks team.....
I agree w/ most, but disagree on a few. Here is their All Time Seahawks Team w/ Seattle Sports Blogs Guy takes:
Head coach
Pos Coach/Player Years Comment
Chuck Knox 1983-91 In nine seasons, he was 80-63, and coached Hawks to their only playoff wins (three)
SSBG: Agree!
Offense
WR Steve Largent 1976-89 Team's only Hall of Famer retired as NFL career leader in catches, yards and TDs
SSBG: Agree!
OT Walter Jones 1997-current Team's first Pro Bowl lineman and probably its second Hall of Famer
SSBG: Agree!
G Steve Hutchinson 2001-current Three straight Pro Bowls make him team's best guard after just five seasons
SSBG: Agree!
C Robbie Tobeck 2000-current Five-year Seattle starter, a first alternate to Pro Bowl this season, edges Blair Bush
SSBG: I would give the nod to Bush here...he played longer and was solid for 10 years!
G Bryan Millard 1984-91 Texas Longhorn was a solid starter for Seahawks at both guard and tackle
SSBG: Agree!
OT Howard Ballard 1994-98 The House was a Pro Bowler earlier in Buffalo, but had five good years in Seattle
SSBG: Hmmmm, I think Andy Heck may have been a better OT than House....his best years were in Buffalo
TE Mike Tice 1981-88, '90-91 Most catches in a year was 29, but cleared out a lot of path for Curt Warner
SSBG: I think if Jeremey Stevens can have 2 more years like this year, it's his for the taking
WR Brian Blades 1988-98 Caught at least 70 passes five times, No. 2 in Seahawks career receptions, yards
SSBG: Agree!
QB Dave Krieg 1980-91 Matt Hasselbeck has to play a few more years to pass numbers of three-time Pro Bowler
SSBG: Agree!
RB Shaun Alexander 2000-current Team's only league MVP beats out CWx2, Curt Warner and Chris Warren
SSBG: Agree!
FB John L. Williams 1986-93 Apologies to Mack Strong, but Williams is career No. 3 receiver, No. 4 rusher, was a great blocker
SSBG: I loved John L, but Strong has had 10 consecutive 1,000 yard RB's.....he's my canidate
K Norm Johnson 1982-90 Seahawks' career scoring leader (810 points)
Defense
SSBG: Agree!
DE Michael Sinclair 1991-2001 Played 11 seasons and is the team's No. 2 sack man, with 73.5
SSBG: Agree!
DT Joe Nash 1982-96 The team's career leader in games played (218) and blocked field goals (8)
SSBG: Agree!
DT Cortez Kennedy 1990-2000 More Pro Bowls (8) than any Seahawk and was NFL's defensive player of the year in 1992
SSBG: Agree!
DE Jacob Green 1980-91 The Seahawks' career sacks leader (116) was a two-time Pro Bowler
SSBG: Agree!
LB Keith Butler 1978-87 Second in career tackles (813), played all 10 NFL seasons with Seahawks
SSBG: Agree!
LB Chad Brown 1997-2004 Fourth in career tackles (744), first in snakes and reptiles owned
SSBG: Agree!
LB Fredd Young 1984-87 Top tackler from 1985 to 1987, went to two Pro Bowls for special teams, two as linebacker
SSBG: Disagree. The likes of Shultz or even Lofa now are better than Young...I can't believe he only played 3 years here!
CB Dave Brown 1976-86 Ring of Honor member intercepted team-record 50 passes in 11 seasons
SSBG: Agree!
CB Shawn Springs 1997-2003 Tied for fifth on career interceptions list (20), but No. 2 among CBs
SSBG: Disagree: I just HATE Springs, so anyone else here is fine by me

ex-Seahawk Dave Brown passes away
Unfortunate news of out Texas today....one of my favorite Hawks passed away during a pick-up basketball game. He was one of my favorite Hawks....#22 always brought a solid game and I still remember the 2 TD's he had in the same game vs. KC.

Seahawks Redskins game: Keys to the game for Seattle
I know it's only Monday, but my mind is already set at 1:30 PST for this game. Beer in hand, this is what the Hawks regular season triumphs are all about...the PLAYOFFS.
Keys to the game vs. WA
1. Once again, it's crowd noise. Yup, the fans are going to have to "get hoarse" during these playoffs, even if our team gets down 14-0 early. We have HOME FIELD advantage folks and it's time for us to shine on the NFL pedestel.
4. Alexander. I'd like to see SA bang some people around this game and show them who's boss. WA is going to come out guns a firing....watch out for cheap shots. They are going to try and muscle Seattle around....stay firm, and PUSH them around.
3. Defense: THe Redskins have 2 threats offensively, THAT's IT PEOPLE! Moss should be doubled the whole game and have Trufant on him...bottom line, no questions asked. They also have 2 dynamic TE's that love to exploit the middle of the field....keep Lofa and other LB's stuck to them. Portis is not much of a recieving option, however, he is a heck of a RB. We will also need to plan blitzes accordingly....Brunell is OLD, HHH (Hit Him Hard). Finally, watch out for trick plays....the last 2 games Portis had attempted to throw for TD's. Watch for a fake punt, etc.
4. Hasselbeck: Again, I see SA having a big game and all Matt H has to do is stay consistent and not make mistakes. WA has a so-so secondary, so we should be able to open things up here. I see screens and draws being extremely effective vs. this D...they are going to be showing a lot of 8 man fronts and blitzing LB's to try and combat our massive line. We like to run 3 WR sets, so keep the D off-balance w/ the draws/screens.
Prediction? Seattle should take care of a beat up WA team, 30-17.
Thoughts out there?

Attention Seahawks Season Ticket holders
Now that we know who we are facing, DO NOT sell your tickets to out of towners! Seattle needs as much home field advantage as possible, so do not sell your tickets to the $ hungury Politicians from WA DC area.
We are getting a beat up, ugly WA team....do not give them additional ammunition by allowing their fans here! More to come this week as we prepare for the Skins.
Spread the word.

Shaun Alexander NFL MVP
Sorry for the delay in getting to this major news.....I've been on jury duty the last few days. Boy, gotta say, the general public is not the most educated needless to say. Anyhow, SA is a stud and I'm glad he got recognition this year. I'm glad the East Coast bias was put to the side this year and was given to the true champ. He deserves it....what's next? How about Superbowl MVP? Let's keep the "Blue Wave" on a roll.

USC Texas Game instant classic
Vince Young is the #1 player in college football, no argument. Reggie Bush is flashy, has great moves, and will still probably go #1 in the NFL draft. Matt Leinhart has a great arm, but man, nothing, I mean nothing could stop Vince Young tonight. He's incredible. Great game, and an instant classic for college football.
What I hated about the game? Jesus, the 20 times the camera's scrolled over the Citi, Tostitos, Fedex ads in the top right hand corner of the Rose Bowl. It drives me nuts how much college football allows corporations to influence how the game is shown, HUGE advertisements on the field. It's lame, and the corporations are lame. Keep college sports out of corporate marketing. Shame, shame, shame!

UW AZ hoop game recap
That was an amazing game, regardless of the outcome. Let's be honest Husky fans, there is no way UW should have even been in the first or second OT. Give up some serious props to Roy for hitting some clutch 3's. This was a great wake up call for this team and adjustments need to be made.
First and foremost, for as good of a shooter as Appleby is, he is NOT a ball handler. Make sure Dentmon or Roy is playing the point and leave the dribbling to those guys.
Our D looked great in the first half, but when AZ started hitting 3's in the second half, we probably stayed in the zone too long. Adams was also on fire and with Bobby Jones nursing a sore ankle, we had no one to defend him. Why not Roy? Simple, you save him for the offensive end and keep him rested on D.
Where was Brockman again? He is a solid, solid 6-7 250 lbs PF, but w/out a center, he struggles...he is NOT a center. Expect bigger #'s from him next year when we get Hawes to play Center.
The schedule gets tough for this team now as they hit the road. Again, a few adjustments here and there and this team should be back to it's dominating form. #11 in the country is still a great place to be in......

Sonics fire Weiss
Did I call it or what? Thank god we got rid of him....I hate to say it, but he was a loser coach. Up next? A proven winner, Bob Hill. I like the move and I mentioned in an earlier blog, B.Hill has more enthusiasm on the side-lines.
Let's hope he can turn this team around.

Sonics are in trouble
How can this team go from 50+ wins to this? Sorry, losing a loser like Jerome James and over-rated Antionio Daniels is not the reason....it's Bob Wiess. Why did we decide to go w/ this guy? Why didn't we keep Nate? $ talks I guess, and Nate went for big bucks w/ Mr. Allen, uh, I mean, the Portland Trailblazers. Draft choices? As I've said all year, Swift was a HUGE bust and our Euro experiment this year is still in limbo of whether or not he'll pan out. When was the last time Seattle had some good, young talent? R.Lewis? I wish this team would trade for a top pick or make some good decisions in the offseason for BIG off-season free agent. This team needs a facelift, and it starts w/ Wiess. Give Ray Allen some talent and we can get this team to a championship in 2-3 years.
