Mariners sign Everett

  Posted:

Are we going back to the days of signing Gorman Thomas? Or better yet, the Dinosaur ear? Unless this team signs Millwood, look out for ANOTHER 90 loss season in 06'. Everett is old and has had 1-2 good (not great) years in MLB. Unless they get serious production out of their younger pitching, they are in trouble. Not a big fan of Bavasi's moves so far this off-season.....

I am sure that everyone is down on the Jarrrrrrrrrrrrrrod Washburn signing but there is something to be said about a lefty as Safeco. I would have been much happier with Millwood but he is so up and down and a 5 year contact to anyone is just craziness.

Here is millwoood

The thing I see is two pretty inconsistnet guys. Although Millwood has the better KO rate They are pretty much the same pitchers. Millwood has never been the same pitcher since Atlanta until this year. Now with such a crappy group of pitchers out in FAgency he is going for broke. I am pretty happy with the signing. I see this as the AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARon Sele singing in 99.

Sele was signed at 29-30 with the M's and had 2 good years with them and then 2 serviceable/OK ones with the Angels. It is that 5 year when it all comes apart.

One last thing the fact that he is a lefty is also a big deal. I know James that you would dig this. Here is a list of all the lefty's in MLB.
