Hawks sign Alexander....NOT good?

  Posted:

I'm a bit skeptical on this one.....

Seattle Times: "His salary is also fully guaranteed, even if he is injured or his skills diminish."

It will be interesting to see how he plays this year, if he's inspired. I'm hoping for the best and that Seattle signs him to a LONG contract!

SSBG,
you and I usually see eye to eye on a lot of issues. However, with your diagnosis of this event, I couldn't disagree more.

first of all, Shawn Alexander deserves a huge deal from the Hawks, not some bull crap 1 year deal. He has been one the best, and most consistent, running backs in the game for the past four years. Why don't we pay him like one????? how long did we do this to Walter Jones??? (arguably the best left tackle in the game).

second, his performance this year will dictate what type of contract he receives next year. if anything, we might see a quiet, but gutty, performance from a guy looking to get paid. my prediction, he WINS the rushing title this year!!

third, and last, he is always quiet. the last, and only time, i remember him being quoted was when he didn't win the rushing title because holmgren is a moron (and yes, that was Holmgrens fault. you get that guy the rushing title, end of story) I would be quiet too if i was treated the way he has been by our managment. ask your self this SSBG, if you were one of the best salesmen in your office, year after year, wouldn't you want to get paid??

Paul,

minus the cliches you have in here, I agree w/ some of your stuff. I defnitely agree that he's one of the best backs in the game and he's soft spoken. I also think he's going to half ass it due to way he's been treated. Time will tell my friend, time will tell......
